Pros

  • Award-winning employment law firm
  • Free 30-minute consultation

Cons

  • Some reports of having additional costs
  • Closed on weekends

Joining our list of the best employment lawyers in Brisbane is MJT Law.

They have received multiple recognitions, such as the 2020 Doyles Recommended Employment Law, and a finalist for the 2018 Australasian Law Awards, just to name a few.

We like that the company offers a free thirty minute consultation, which provides clients enough time in evaluating if they will fit the bill.

Even better, they can even provide comprehensive legal advice during the half-hour coordination. Clients agree with us that the initial consultation already provides great insights before moving forward with their assistance.

In line with this, we also like how MJT Law prepared an explanatory video, which we think is useful in addressing initial queries about employment. We think this is a thoughtful touch, especially to those who prefer watching videos than reading.

Nonetheless, those who prefer to read in-depth information about employment issues, contracts, and entitlements, can still purchase an e-book available on MJT Law’s website.

Overall, we think that their recognitions speak a lot about the law firm’s credibility. Though we have reservations on having additional costs in our contract, we still think that MJT Law is worth the investment.

Pros

  • Accommodating team – entertains client queries
  • Experience with employees, small to medium enterprises, and unions

Cons

  • Rates could be lower
  • Few instances of delayed responses over email

Dealing with employment law matters in the last 20 years, Susan Moriarty & Associates has been a sound name among firms and employers in the city.

What we love about this employment law firm is that they seriously take every matter from the get-go. We even like how they listened to our concerns, and took note of all important details before giving a sound recommendation.

On top of that, we like how their legal team would align their solutions with our objectives. It’s quite notable that we didn’t even feel overwhelmed with their process since they really took their time in explaining every facet with us.

We think that this is a thoughtful touch, knowing that most of us don’t have in-depth knowledge about matters concerning employment law.

We also appreciate how their team educates us about employment rights, making sure that we remain fully aware of all possible actions. This helps us get a general idea on how we can easily notice any unfair actions or discriminations, moving forward.

Another thing we like about the company is that they have sample case studies, which serve as a perfect reference to clients, like us.

However, we’ve heard about instances of late revert on email messages. We suggest giving them a call or visiting their law office for any urgent employment law concerns.

Though Susan Moriarty & Associates don’t offer the friendliest rates in the industry, we still think that with their years of experience, they are still worth the investment.

Pros

  • Supports reform activities for other communities
  • Expect personalised services from the legal team

Cons

  • Instances of limited follow throughs on clients
  • Deals with a lot of clients

For more than three decades. Hall Payne has been attending to all employment legal matters across Brisbane.

What we like about them is that they don’t just focus on the concerns of private companies, but also attend to the legal rights of union members.

On top of that, the legal firm is large enough to accommodate a big pool of clients. Even better, we’re impressed how they can still keep a personalised service, which is always a plus in our books!

Another thing that we love about the company is that they support reform to other communities which includes the rights of children, LGBTQI community, as well as the sporting and arts community.

Because of this, we’re not surprised to see that Hall Payne has been a known player in the legal trade, hence growing their loyal clientele since they started.

However, since the company deals with a lot of clients, there are some instances of slow reverts to enquiries. We’ve also received limited follow-ups during the first few weeks of coordination.

Though their personalised service is remarkable, we still wish that their law firm can improve on this as some clients would want to receive constant updates on a daily basis.

All things considered, with their record of successes, we still think that Hall Payne is worth a try.

Pros

  • Office is open on weekends
  • High attention to detail
  • Good case coordination

Cons

  • Rates are a bit premium
  • Some instances of slow revert on queries sent over email

What’s great about Aitken Whyte is that their office is open even on weekends. This tells us that we can easily coordinate any urgent concerns any day of the week.

The legal firm’s high attention to detail is pretty remarkable as well. We’ve seen how the legal consultants review the documents given to them before giving their initial take on the matter.

We even like how they ask questions, which tells us how they go beyond what’s written and really try to understand every concern and situation given to them.

On top of that, we like how the guys from Aitken Whyte have significant experience in working with both employers and employees.

Because of this, we’re confident that the law firm has great insights from both sides of the coin. We also think that it certainly helps the team come up with winning resolutions moving forward.

It’s worth noting, however, that Aitken Whyte’s rates are a bit on the pricier side. Nonetheless, they still try to keep the costs as low as possible – even offer pro bono cases.

Their inbox can also get a little clogged from time to time, hence sending over an email to send initial queries isn’t really recommended. It may be best to call the team or even visit their office for more convenient coordination.

Pros

  • Offers “no win, no fee” arrangements
  • Reliable legal service team
  • Personalised, thoughtful approach

Cons

  • Has to improve case coordination
  • Instances of being passed on to multiple lawyers

Another legal firm that’s focused on addressing employment matters across Brisbane is Anderson Gray.

Among its counterparts, Anderson Gray offers a “no win, no fee” scheme, which is always a plus in our books. This tells us how confident their team of experts are in delivering outstanding results in any case.

In line with this, we like that the law firm won’t even charge for the initial consultation. Because the first meeting is obligation-free, they encourage more clients to address their work matters.

However, there were reported instances when a different lawyer would handle a client’s case. Nonetheless, their internal coordination is still spot on, which tells us that cases are carefully reviewed when being passed to another team.

On a lighter note, we commend the team for their outstanding patience. We highly value this trait as seeking legal counsel can take much time, which includes diving deeper on every important detail.

Overall, with the company’s professionalism and thoughtful approach, we think that Anderson Gray truly deserves a spot on this list.
