5 of the Best Dog Trainers in Brisbane

5 of the Best Dog Trainers in Brisbane

How We Picked the Best Dog Trainers in Brisbane

Services: We took a look at the range of services each dog trainer offers, from puppy training to adult dog training, and more.
Trainer Qualification: It’s important that dog trainers have the necessary qualifications and have years of experience on the job.
Professionalism/Approach: Of course, we want someone we can trust to handle our fur babies. So we spoke to some clients about their experience with their dog trainers.
Dog Training Results: We also asked clients about their pup’s progress in dog training and their level of satisfaction with the trainer’s services.
Safety: Safety is of utmost importance for everyone, especially when dealing with multiple dogs. So we checked the health and safety precautions of the dog trainers especially when it comes to group sessions.
Packages: We checked if the fog trainers offer training packages and if rates are reasonable enough for the services provided.

Pros

  • Simple and effective dog training techniques
  • Has online shop where you can buy treats, collars, and supplies

Cons

  • Some clients aren’t satisfied with puppy school sessions
  • There are instances when there are too many dogs in one class

What we love about Jordan Dog Training is that their methods are simple and effective when teaching positive reinforcement to your best friends, which makes them one of the best dog trainers in Brisbane.

We agree that you really don’t have to follow any complex techniques to help you understand your buddies and vice versa. It’s really simple – effective communication is key, much like what we also need as humans.

It’s great that they have a variety of dog training services such as in-home dog behavior training, puppy preschool, obedience training, puppy setup, dog trick training, and if you have issues with barking dogs, they can also help with that.

Additionally, they have an online shop which can be found on their website where you can order some treats, collars, and other supplies, which is really convenient, too.

There were just some concerns that we heard from clients with regard to their puppy school. Since they hold classes with a group of different pups, there were instances when their dogs were just asked to sit on their laps with a leash the whole time.

With that said, clients felt that it wasn’t very interactive and even caused some stress for the pups.

Perhaps it depends on the trainer and some classes might be too big to handle for one instructor.

So we’d suggest that they only accommodate a limited number of dogs or have more trainers handle the sessions.

It’s good to know that trainers here have qualifications in animal studies, canine coaching and reactive behavior, as well as with anxiety and mental health. They’re also certified by the Australian Pet Professional Guild.

Pros

  • Can provide advance behavioral training
  • Able to accommodate up to 3 dogs per session

Cons

  • Only 1 trainer available
  • Slots might be full most of the time

There is no doubt that you and your dog can learn a lot from Complete K9 Brisbane with professional dog trainer, Cam McKinnon. More than developing dogs to be better, it’s paramount to be better dog owners as well.

That is why Cam is one of our top choices because he puts great value into the relationship between a dog and its owner as it’s a key factor to improving a canine’s behavior.

Although Complete K9 Brisbane is relatively new, Cam has been training dogs since 1999 and has received various recognitions locally and internationally, which is quite impressive.

Cam can work with a lot of issues such as barking, aggression, stress, separation anxiety, toilet training, and more.

It’s also great that he’s capable of giving some advanced training which includes loose leading walking, behavioral traits and calming signals, body cues and language, and puppy imprinting.

We find his skills and services to be really comprehensive as he also provides behavioral assessments, as well as development and mentor packages.

With all these in mind, when you sign up at Complete K9, it’s a guarantee that your sessions will be with Cam as he’s the only trainer.

Although it’s expected that slots can fill up fast, so if you want to hire Cam, then no need to think twice and just go for it!

Pros

  • Wide variety of dog training and pet services
  • Provides services such as pet sitting, dog walking, and animal first aid training

Cons

  • Rates are higher compared to others
  • Minimum of 7 days notice for cancellations

We’re positive that Positive Response Dog Training would be one of your top choices with their extensive array of services.

First off, they provide different types of training for puppies and adult dogs. For group classes, there’s puppy school, older puppy and adult school, and all ages training.

We think these group classes are good spaces for exposure and socialization for your best buds, no matter what age. They also have puppy playgroups for your pups to freely enjoy playtime with other dogs.

For private sessions, you also have a lot of options which include one-on-one virtual training sessions, follow-up sessions, initial assessments, and reassessments when necessary.

Additionally, they have other pet services as well which are very useful for owners such as animal first aid, pet sitting and visits, and walk and train dog walking.

As much as you’d want to spend more time and walk with your dog, we can’t avoid the fact that sometimes life gets too busy. So it’s great that there are professional dog walkers out there who can give some basic training to your dog at the same time.

As for their rates, group classes are priced at $230, while puppy playgroups cost only $30. Private training, however, is rather expensive at $330.

But you can opt to try a virtual session as well which is cheaper at $150 for a 1 hour session.

Pros

  • Over 30 years in the dog training business
  • Highly personalized training approach
  • Provides after-training support

Cons

  • Rates can be expensive
  • Does not offer group sessions

If you think your new pup needs to be trained and learn a trick or two, you definitely wanna call Bark Busters Brisbane North East!

We wanted to feature this dog trainer on our list because they’re one of the few dog training service providers that offer support even after the training course.

This will be great for the pups and owners to ensure there’s consistency with the discipline and training.

We also love that their method is simple but unique to every dog and household they belong in. They don’t follow everything by the book but give importance to studying the dog’s environment and lifestyle first as well as the owner’s.

Bark Buster has been training dogs for 30 years with multiple locations across the country and the world.

The trainer for Brisbane North East is Michelle and we heard that clients are immensely grateful for her work as she can handle any issues with dogs at any age or breed.

It’s good to know that her approach is very nurturing and focuses on strengthening the bond between you and your best bud.

The only issue that we’ve heard from clients is that their rates are a bit expensive. But given the positive response from clients, we think the sessions with them would be worth it.
