Pros

  • Experienced and diverse teaching staff
  • Small, intimate class sizes with personalized attention
  • Flexible course offerings and structures
  • Supportive and safe learning environment

Cons

  • Limited spots available due to small class sizes

SoHo Yoga Grange offers a unique and enriching experience for those interested in deepening their yoga practice or becoming certified instructors. With a focus on intimate, personalized training, SoHo Yoga provides Level 1 (200Hr) Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training and Level 2 (150Hr) Therapeutic Yoga Teacher Training on alternating years.

One of the standout aspects of SoHo Yoga Grange is the quality of their teachers. The senior, experienced instructors, such as Amanda Zdanowicz and Sheila Ferguson, bring a wealth of knowledge and a personal touch to their classes. Their diverse backgrounds and teaching styles cater to a wide range of students, from those seeking personal growth to those pursuing certification. The small class sizes allow for more meaningful interactions and personalized feedback, enhancing the overall learning experience. Additionally, the studio’s commitment to providing a safe and supportive environment contributes to the effectiveness of their training programs.

Another advantage of studying at SoHo Yoga Grange is the flexibility of their course offerings. The 200Hr Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training is spread over eight months with long weekends, allowing students to integrate their learnings gradually. This structure is ideal for those who want to balance their yoga education with other responsibilities. The 100Hr Yoga Immersion provides a more intensive option for personal growth without the commitment to teaching, making it accessible to a broader audience. This flexibility ensures that students can choose a path that best fits their personal and professional goals.

However, there are some limitations to consider. The intense focus on small group sizes and personalized attention can result in a limited number of spots available each year, which may make it challenging for some potential students to enroll.

In conclusion, SoHo Yoga Grange stands out for its commitment to quality education and personalized training. Their experienced instructors, flexible course structures, and supportive environment create a comprehensive and transformative learning experience.

Pros

  • Course runs for 12 months
  • Program has been running for over a decade
  • Flexible payment terms

Cons

  • Duration of program might not be suitable for everyone
  • Participants are required to have been practicing for 2 years before joining

If you’re looking to deepen your yoga practice, taking a teacher training course with Julie Smerdon will definitely be a transformational journey!

What sets her program apart from other teacher training courses is that it spans over 12 months. It might seem like a long time but what’s great about it is that you’ll be able to fully immerse yourself into the practice and apply the teachings to your daily life.

We think that this type of format can be very effective compared to, say, a course that runs everyday for three weeks or a month. We love that you can have a chance to really integrate your learnings into every aspect of your life.

Although, if the schedule is not suitable for you then it might be better to find a more compressed course timeline.

Julie has been practicing yoga for more than twenty years. She has been facilitating yoga teacher training for over a decade and has produced some of the best teachers around.

It’s good to know that her program has a comprehensive curriculum that covers detailed asana, yoga philosophy, anatomy, and various teaching techniques.

The course fee is $4,799 and it’s great that they offer a 12-month payment term of $358 a month. What’s more, you can also request alternate payment options if needed.

In addition, take note that the program has some prerequisites such as a 2-year yoga practice or a recommendation from a teacher.

  • Open to students of all levels
  • Provides additional 50 training hours for free
  • Provides one-on-one monitoring during and after the course

Cons

  • Payment plan available in only 3 installments
  • Slots might be limited

What’s great about Raw Power Yoga’s 250-hour teacher training program is that it’s open to students of all levels and experience. So whether you’re just a beginner yogi or have been practicing for a long time, you’re welcome to join the program!

The program is six months long, which we think would be easy enough to work around with your daily routine. While the modules will be facilitated by different teachers depending on the topics covered.

Their curriculum includes asana and alignment, philosophy, anatomy, inversion and arm-balancing clinics, hands-on adjustments and spotting, business of yoga, and more.

We love how their curriculum is really tailored for preparing students to teach yoga, as well as how to handle the business side of things.

It’s also worth noting that 65% of students who completed their course are now teaching in Australia and abroad. This is good to know if you’re really serious about pursuing a career in teaching yoga anywhere in the world.

We also noticed that most programs offer only 200 hours of training but they provide an additional 50 hours for free!

It’s great that they also provide free one-on-one monitoring during and after the course. We think this would really give you that confidence boost to become an effective teacher.

The course fee is $4,399 but take note that they only offer an alternate payment plan in three installments. Also, program slots usually fill up fast, so it’s better to sign up early!

Pros

  • Facilitated by an Ashtanga Yoga teacher with over 20 years of experience
  • Longest running Ashtanga Yoga shala in Brisbane
  • Progressively paced training program which totals over 3,000 hours

Cons

  • Strict prerequisites before joining the program
  • Program is limited to Ashtanga yoga method

If you’re an Ashtanga yoga practitioner and wish to become a teacher, it would be best to join a program led by an Ashtanga yoga teacher with relevant experience.

The Ashtanga Yoga Shala in Brisbane is the longest running Ashtanga school in the city and it’s the perfect place to deepen your Ashtanga yoga practice!

The program is led by Richard Clark who has been teaching for more than 20 years. It’s worth noting that he trained with Iain Clark who was certified in Mysore, India by the late Sri K. Pattabhi Jois himself, who developed the practice of Ashtanga.

It’s also good to know that Richard underwent further studies in India to deepen his skills and knowledge of the Ashtanga yoga tradition and other Hatha yoga methods.

If you’re looking to train with Ashtanga Yoga Shala, it’s important to take note that they have strict prerequisites. This includes a daily self practice and weekly attendance at the Brisbane shala, and assessed competency in the primary series of Ashtanga Yoga.

We love how this practice truly entails commitment to a daily yoga routine which we think will truly make one a great teacher.

The training program is progressively paced and held thrice a year with more than 3,000 hours in total. It’s a rigorous training which requires immense dedication to build a strong foundation in asana practice, theory, and in-class skills application.

As for the course fee and other details, take note that all prerequisites need to be met before inquiring about the teacher training program.

Pros

  • Schedule is ideal for those who wish to complete the course within 2 months
  • Offers early bird discount
  • Program includes a 4-day retreat

Cons

  • Program schedule is not suitable for those with full-time jobs
  • $800 deposit is required upon registration

What we love about Inna Bliss Yoga is that they hold such a welcoming and nurturing space for students and those who aspire to teach!

They offer a Level 1 200-hour teacher training program created for practitioners to be able to ease into a teaching role in yoga.

The studio has two locations in Brisbane – at Bulimba and Camp Hill, with the former being the venue for their teacher training classes.

The program offers a comprehensive course outline that includes in-depth asana and alignment principles, yoga history and philosophy, anatomy, and more.

We love that one of the highlights of their program is teaching how to hold space and have an intuitive practice, along with class planning and sequencing.

Their program is significantly shorter compared to others as meetings are more frequent and you can get certified within two months. This schedule might be suitable for most as you can finish the course in a short time and start teaching right away.

But for those with full-time jobs, this might not be an ideal schedule, so it would be better to find courses that have weekend schedules.

The course fee is $4,850 and it’s great that they have an early bird fee of $4,699. But take note that they require a non-refundable deposit of $800 upon registration, which is higher compared to other programs.

In addition, we love that the program includes a 4-day retreat at the Wybalena Farm in Northern NSW, which is a great perk for trainees and isn’t typically offered by others.
