  • Ideal for those searching for a vibrant and active community
  • Location has easy access to hospitals, malls, and public transport

Cons

  • Office is open on weekdays only
  • Minimum age requirement of 65

Nestled on Brisbane’s northside, Wheller on the Park is a vibrant community with lots of opportunities to get active, then this retirement village is one of your best choices in Brisbane.

We love that their social committee keeps the calendar packed with engaging activities, from friendly lawn bowls tournaments to movie nights under the stars.

If tranquility is what you’re looking for, we appreciate that their beautifully landscaped garden offers a serene escape. It’s also great that their apartment units offer utmost privacy and independence.

The retirement village has a total of 320 apartment units and 20 villas, and we love that residents get to enjoy resort-style amenities. These include a heated swimming pool, BBQ facilities, cafe, community garden, bowling green, cinema, gym, and more.

Additionally, it’s good to know that the community is co-located with an allied health hub, the Wheller Gardens Wellbeing Centre as well as residential aged care services. The location also has easy access to hospitals, public transport, and malls.

If you wish to visit for inquiries, just take note that they’re only open on weekdays until 4:30pm. Another thing is, while some facilities accept residents 55 years and older, note that Wheller on the Park accepts only 65 and over.

Pros

  • Peaceful, pet-friendly community amidst lush environment
  • Offers spacious 2 or 3-bedroom homes

Cons

  • No available units at the moment
  • Interested residents will be wait-listed

Tucked away in the Daisy Hill State Forest in Springwood, you’ll feel right at home amidst its lush environment and welcoming community. One of the best things about Elements in Springwood is their inclusivity, fostering a strong sense of community.

Our favorite part? You can also bring your pets! But Elements isn’t just about feeling at home – it’s also about living life to the fullest.

We love that they offer a variety of amenities to keep you active and engaged. You can relax in the zen garden, enjoy a cookout with friends at the BBQ area, take a refreshing dip in the pool, stay fit in the gym, and explore new hobbies at the workshop.

While they encourage residents to embrace independence, we also appreciate how they understand that needs may change over time. And it gives us peace of mind that care and support services are available when needed.

Finally, we found their properties to be quite enticing. They offer two and three-bedroom open-plan homes with garden or bushland views.

However, we found out that there are no properties available at the moment, but you can still sign up on their waiting list. This means that this retirement village is a sought-after community, but you need to reserve your slot very well in advance.

Pros

  • Offers city life conveniences in a lush parkland environment
  • Complete with lifestyle amenities
  • Office is available 7 days a week

Cons

  • Only accepts retirees 65 and over
  • Management might have a lot of restrictions in place

The Village Yeronga is one of the best retirement facilities that you can consider in Brisbane, as it has all the city life conveniences in a lush parkland setting.

We love the idyllic location with flat walking paths to enjoy daily leisurely walks. It’s great that the community is also complete with lifestyle amenities such as a heated indoor pool, lawn bowls, gym, yoga / tai chi room, beauty salon, and cinema, among others.

Nearby hospitals include Princess Alexandra Hospital and Mater Hospital, while there are several shopping and entertainment centers within easy access. The Brisbane Golf Club and other social and sporting clubs can also be found close by.

A lot of people would choose this retirement village because of the views. But the apartment units are also surprisingly spacious and thoughtfully designed, offering more than just a pretty picture.

However, while some retirement facilities accept over 55s, it’s important to note that The Village Yeronga only accepts retirees 65 years and above.

Another downside is, we’ve heard from families of residents that there’s too many restrictions from the management. So it’s important to carefully review the community guidelines to understand any limitations on activities or customizations.

  • In-home support services are readily available

Cons

  • Minimum age requirement for residents is 65
  • There might be no vacancies at the moment

Azure Blue is an excellent place for retirement in Brisbane as it offers the freedom of resort-style living. You can choose to participate in activities and social gatherings or simply relax and relish your newfound peace.

It’s good to know that in-home support services are readily available should your needs change over time. This gives us peace of mind knowing that you can receive the assistance you may require while still maintaining your independence.

At Azure Blue Carina, we love how stylish the units are where you can choose from one, two, or three-bedroom apartments. It’s also a great advantage that the units are low-maintenance as they’re equipped with modern appliances and finishes.

We think the landscaped gardens are also a nice touch which seamlessly blends with the bushland surroundings. We feel that it’s an ideal place for retirees to unwind and enjoy a carefree lifestyle.

Take note that the minimum age for residents in Azure Blue communities is 65 for single occupants. For couples, one must be at least 65 and the other 60 years old.

Cons

Another thing that makes it one of the best choices to consider for retirees is because of its over 50 years of experience in building the ideal retirement communities. Thus, we think TriCare is a company you can trust when deciding on your new chapter.

It’s worth noting that the facility is co-located with Upper Mount Gravatt Aged Care Residence which offers 24-hour professional care. This unique feature makes TriCare Mount Gravatt the ideal choice for couples who may require different levels of support.
