    Pros

    • Piano bar and jazz bar for you to choose from
    • Singing along to music is encouraged

    Cons

    • Tends to get really crowded in the weekend with no place to sit comfortably
    • Opens up late sometimes

What makes us include Doo-Bop Bar in our list of the top places where you can listen to live music in Brisbane is the atmosphere inside the bar. Listening to music is one thing, but asking you to sing along to every song is another.

There are places whose patrons don’t like it when people sing along with the band, but it’s always been a part of Doo-Bop Bar’s tradition. You can also submit song requests which contributes to the already-interactive vibe.

Doo-Bop Bar is also famous for its Piano Bar and Jazz Bar, which cater to different audiences. If you want to relax and be cozy, Piano Bar is the choice for you; if you want some snazzy music, then you can go to the basement for the Jazz Bar.

Food and drinks are delicious and are served fast. The staff members are attentive and accommodating too, which tells you just how much they take customer service seriously.

However, Doo-Bop Bar tends to get so crowded during the weekends that you’ll find yourself with nowhere to even sit comfortably. You don’t go to such a place to feel stressed about such things, so this might be a bit of an inconvenience for you.

Sometimes it opens late too, which pushes some customers to go search for other places. But if you’re one of those who are willing to wait for a long time, you’ll get your reward of good music and good food.

    Pros

    • Versatile local music talents that can play any music
    • Comfortable booths that can fit several people

    Cons

    • Long queue to get inside
    • Might also wait for a long time for your drinks

If you’re looking for a good place to listen to live music in Brisbane, Brooklyn Standard should come to mind. What we love about it is the versatile local music talents that perform for the crowd because they can play any type of song there is.

The place is definitely for music lovers regardless of your age or preferred music genre. We notice that the crowd inside is a mixture of young and middle-aged people who just enjoy dancing and listening to good music.

Brooklyn Standard is also quite cozy because of its comfortable booths that can fit several people. If you’re planning a night out with a huge group of friends, this is the best place for you to unwind while having fun.

Perhaps one of the things that might turn you off though is that it always has a long queue to get inside because of its popularity, most especially during weekends. The place is also a little bit small to hold huge crowds so the place is easily filled.

Another thing that might be a bit bothersome is that you might need to wait a long time for your drinks to get served. Most of the time, the staff are attentive, but large crowds tend to cause delays in service.

    Pros

    • Saloon-style bar with unique interior
    • Extensive song list

    Cons

    • Might cancel live band events without prior notice
    • Music might be too loud for some

Lefty’s Music Hall’s unique theme and interior catch our attention. It’s a saloon-style venue, with a good collection of quirky decors that live up to its name, the reason why we include it in our list.

First thing we notice is that regardless of your age, you will find something to love at Lefty’s Music Hall. It has a lot to offer – from good food to amazing music to unique displays that you can just appreciate – it’s all there.

The prices of the food and drinks are reasonable too. If you just want to unwind and don’t have too much of a budget for a full night out party with your friends, you can hang out at Lefty’s Music Hall.

Of course there’s the diverse music performed by versatile bands. There’s a lot of talent in their lineup, and they play all types of genres you can imagine.

Aside from the good music, one of the reasons the patrons come back is the wide list of mixed beverages. Everyone’s favorite seems to be the apple rum beverage, and it’s definitely worth a try if you happen to visit.

There are cases wherein some live band events get canceled, which can be a bummer if you’ve been looking forward to it. Rest assured it’s not a common occurrence though, just a case of unfortunate circumstances.

Some patrons also complain that the music is too loud for them at times, but this is due to a matter of preference as well as your mood. Lefty’s Music Hall is still a good place to go to if you want to destress.

    Pros

    • Beer garden
    • Lots of seats even on busy nights

    Cons

    • Inconsistent temperature (some areas are too cold, some are too warm)
    • Some bands arrive late

The Triffid is in our list because of one thing – its famous Beer Garden, which used to be an airport hangar. It’s the perfect place to have an afternoon drink just to relax and enjoy a good conversation with your favorite group of people.

The Beer Garden is not only famous for its Instagrammable aesthetics, but also for its great selection of alcoholic beverages. Some of the fancier drinks can be a little expensive, but in exchange for a hearty stay in the garden makes every penny worth it.

And of course, there’s the amazing music, which adds to the low-key and cozy ambience of the place. The Triffid is famous for its acoustic music, making it ideal for your casual sit-down dinners and simple talks over good food.

You’ll also appreciate the fact that even during busy days or nights, there are enough seats for everyone. You won’t ruin your night waiting for a vacant seat or your orders.

Perhaps the only thing that needs a little improvement is regarding the delays in performances. Some bands arrive late, and while this is inevitable at times, customers will still appreciate it more if they’re at The Triffid on time.

Also, the staff should do something about the inconsistent temperature. There are some areas that are too cold for comfort, while there are some that are too warm.

Having this variety will keep you coming back for more because you want to experience all that they can give you. Most loyal customers start from being casual fans, and now they just keep coming back to experience the food as well as the music.

Expect a lot of people during Jazz Sundays, because these are loyal patrons who really do come to The Bearded Lady for the music. The light, snappy music adds to the almost homey-ness of the place and will relax you more than you think it can.
