But, of course, my friends, being the cheeky bunch they are, didn’t just give me a list—they gave me a treasure map of distractions. Like, I was told to check out this little bakery along the way, which, according to my mate, “has the best pies ever.”
And let me tell you, they were the kind of stops that made me seriously wonder. So, if you’re planning this road trip, be prepared—because these epic stops might just steal the show and make you forget Brisbane was even the end goal.
Best Time to Go
The best time to go to Brisbane is during the cooler months, from May to September. The weather is pleasantly mild, making it perfect for exploring the city and its surrounding areas without the intense heat.
Plus, you’ve got to check out the Brisbane Festival in September. It’s a huge art festival that lights up the city with performances, installations, and the iconic Riverfire fireworks display—it’s something you definitely don’t want to miss!
The Fastest Route (M1)
To drive from Tugun to Brisbane, take the Gold Coast Highway north and merge onto the M1 (Pacific Motorway) via the ramp to Brisbane. Stay on the M1, following signs for Brisbane as you pass through Coomera, Beenleigh, and Logan.
Continue on the M1 until you reach the Brisbane CBD, exiting via the Riverside Expressway. The total distance is about 100 km, and the drive typically takes 1 to 1 hour and 15 minutes, depending on traffic.
