Everything You Need to Know About Redcliffe Beach

Sometimes a walk on the beach is all it takes to destress and recharge for another week of work, and one of our go-to beach areas outside Brisbane is Redcliffe Beach.

The picturesque surroundings and amazing vibes keep us going back and forth (literally), as this area also offers fun activities that are ideal for a family vacation. We went whale watching and paddling.

If you’re craving a weekend getaway or going on a wild beach adventure, Redcliffe Beach is the spot to add to your list. Here’s a list of the things you should try when visiting the area.

Best Time to Go

You can visit Redcliffe Beach all year round due to the region’s warm weather (the locals’ welcoming attitude even warms your visit).

However, to fully experience the community spirit in full swing, schedule your trip for Sundays to attend the Redcliffe Markets. You can also schedule your calendar during Redcliffe KiteFest.

Some water attractions, such as the Settlement Cove Lagoon, are closed due to seasonal maintenance. Be sure to check their website before visiting.

The historic Redcliffe Jetty is one of the oldest landmarks on the peninsula. We went here during the afternoon to witness the sunset (we were told that this spot offers spectacular sunset views). The view did not disappoint.

The structure was originally built in 1885 as a landing area for visitors to the bay. However, the standing structure is now a replica of the original Redcliffe Jetty, with some minor additions.

There’s plenty of seating in the area, adding comfort to the visitors. We decided to munch on some snacks and sip a cup of iced coffee on the benches to end the afternoon.

Renowned as one of Brisbane’s most vibrant regional galleries, the Redcliffe Art Gallery is the place for art connoisseurs to peruse ever-changing art exhibitions and join an artist-led workshop.

I was really hooked by the display, so we hired a book tour led by one of the amazing gallery team members. He extended our experience with his knowledge of the art exhibitions.

With such a great exhibit, visiting this place is a bargain because they don’t charge any fees to enter the establishment.

Sunday morning at the Redcliffe Markets was nothing short of magical—fresh ocean breeze and foodie treats to fill up your stomach. Located along the majestic Redcliffe Peninsula, the Redcliffe Market sets itself as one of North Brisbane’s iconic seaside marketplaces.

This market is such a lively place, and it can get crowded at times. Nevertheless, I enjoyed soaking up the sun while drinking a morning cup of freshly brewed coffee.

The Redcliffe Markets is an iconic seaside marketplace, featuring over 200 stalls filled with tasty treats, fresh farm-direct produce, and more. Buskers and professional musicians are also performing in some areas.

We snacked on some mochi donuts right after at Muchi Donuts (obsessed with their light and slightly crispy texture). The Leonardo de Lychee from Bubble tea by Betty quenched our thirst.

Mornings are made even better with a scrumptious breakfast at Café Diversity. Before heading out, I had a freshly brewed coffee and a hearty breakfast burger. The coffee was aromatic and perfect to energize my soul for a day full of activities.

Other standouts in the menu include the decadent waffle, the classic bacon and egg combo (served with sourdough bread), and smashed avocado.

The Cookies and Cream Waffle is a favorite, loaded with chocolate sauce, Oreo cookies, and more.  Surprisingly, it wasn’t too sweet, and I was able to clean the entire plate.

Another restaurant to kickstart your day at Redcliffe Beach is Komo. This vibrant social spot is ideal for a relaxing breakfast before exploring the rest of Moreton Bay.

We started with Eggs Benedict and smashed avocado on sourdough (served with preserved lemon labneh and pomegranate molasses). The bread and butter French toast is stacked with maple and compote.

Another must-visit in Redcliffe for food is The Rustic Olive. This family-owned restaurant has been serving authentic Italian dishes for 15 years and has become a fixture on the Redcliffe waterfront.

Upon entry, we were struck by the establishment’s warm and inviting atmosphere. Definitely a great spot to have a romantic date night.

The menu is impressively extensive, catering to all your Italian food cravings.

There are over 36 pasta dishes and 31 wood-fired pizzas to choose from. Aside from their extensive wine selection, you can BYO wine, with a corkage of $2.

Yabbey Road

Operating Hours:

  • Monday to Sunday- 10:30 AM- 7:30 PM

Average price: $20 per person

Nestled into Comino’s Arcade, Yabbey Road eatery provides locals a little piece of England on the Redcliffe waterfront.

The name of this restaurant is a play on the words for Abbey Road, which is the title of The Beatles’ 11th studio album. The English rock band’s influence is evident throughout the establishment, from the music to the wall decorations.

Yabbey Road’s menu is a recreation of traditional English fish and chip shops. You can choose from different fish to be battered or crumbed, including cod and red emperor. I went with the battered cod with chips, which were lightly coated and fried to golden perfection.
