5 Best Wills Lawyers in Brisbane to Protect What Matters Most

Area Specialisation: We considered firms that dedicate their entire practice to succession and estate planning instead of general legal work, ensuring you get the best advice from professionals who know the local registry systems perfectly.

Pricing Transparency: We chose businesses that offer clear fixed fees instead of unpredictable hourly billing rates. This setup helps everyday clients plan their budgets accurately without fearing surprise invoices later.

Communication Quality: We assessed how well each firm explains complex legal rules using straightforward plain English. It’s important that clients feel heard and completely understand their documents before signing anything.

Service Flexibility: We looked for teams that provide mobile visits or seamless remote options for document execution. This makes the entire process convenient for busy parents or senior citizens.

Sorting out your future assets can feel overwhelming, but the right legal support can make things much easier.

If you want to protect your family or make sure your wishes are clearly documented, finding the best wills lawyer in Brisbane is a great place to start.

If you’re looking for straightforward advice without all the legal jargon, Direct Lawyers Wills and Estates makes estate planning feel a lot less intimidating.

They deal exclusively with succession law and take the time to explain things in plain English, which is refreshing when you’re making important decisions about your family’s future.

I love that they offer complete estate planning packages, including strategies for self-managed superannuation funds (SMSFs). Another nice touch is their mobile legal service, especially helpful for older clients who’d rather not travel to an office.

Their fixed-fee pricing makes it easy to understand costs from the start. You can even book a free 10-minute discovery call to chat about your situation before committing.

Just keep in mind that the first full consultation costs $290, and payment is due at the end of the meeting.

Pros

  • Exclusive focus on estate law
  • Mobile appointments across town

Cons

  • Fixed initial consultation fee

For those searching for a team that deals exclusively with Queensland estate matters, The Estate Lawyers is worth considering.

What’s great about them is their dual-lawyer approach, where two legal professionals are involved in every case. That extra layer of oversight can be reassuring when you’re dealing with important family and estate planning decisions.

They also offer fixed-fee pricing and a free initial consultation, so it’s easy to get started without feeling pressured.

A friend of mine used them for an estate matter and really appreciated their deferred fee option. Instead of paying upfront, eligible clients can wait until inheritance funds are received, taking a lot of financial pressure off during an already stressful time.

However, some clients have reported slower communication, with email replies occasionally taking a couple of weeks. The onboarding process can also move a bit slowly, with final proposal documents sometimes taking more than a month to arrive.

Pros

  • Dual-lawyer service model
  • Free initial consultation
  • Fixed pricing structures
  • Deferred legal fee options

Cons

  • Reports on response delays
  • Document processing is quite slow

Guided us through everything with clarity, compassion

We’d been putting off writing our wills for years, because it felt too overwhelming and hard to prioritise.  After reading the great reviews for The Estate Lawyers, we finally took the step — and we’re so glad we did. Inger was exceptional. She put us at ease straight away and guided us through everything with clarity, compassion, and professionalism. The whole team was efficient, friendly, and the follow-up was excellent. The process was smooth, timely, and far less daunting than we expected. Highly recommend. K&E

Amending our wills after we had our baby

Really grateful for the estate lawyers (Inger and Justine in particular) for amending our wills after we had our baby. I have been so frazzled with lack of sleep, and they were very kind when I took my time/or got distracted to respond to their queries. They were prompt, and knowledgeable (particularly when it came to nominating someone within my will who had been known via multiple names across diff government agencies). Will definitely revisit the estate lawyers in future whenever that might be/future changes.

When family dynamics are a little more complicated, having the right legal support can make a huge difference.

Nurture Law is led by Kelly Gatehouse, who holds a specialised Master of Laws and is known for helping clients resolve estate matters without heading straight into costly court disputes.

You can expect the team to explain everything clearly. You get practical advice in plain English, plus a complimentary initial chat to discuss your situation before making any commitments.

Their fixed-fee pricing is another big plus, as it gives you a clear idea of costs upfront and makes planning much easier.

The trade-off is that you’ll need to spend some time gathering and organising your own financial records, especially for more complex matters.

A few clients have also mentioned minor drafting mistakes in the first round of documents, though these were later corrected through revisions.

Pros

  • Focus on out-of-court solutions
  • Master of Laws leadership
  • Fixed pricing arrangements
  • Free initial chat session

Cons

  • Heavy client preparation required
  • Paperwork drafting errors reported

Vast knowledge and experience in estate law and wills

Kelly Gatehouse, Principal Lawyer and Director at Nurture Law, acted for us in in relation to my late father’s estate.  Kelly is an excellent communicator and stepped us through some difficult times. Her compassion and empathy was appreciated.  We had a few difficult hurdles to get through, but Kelly’s vast knowledge and experience in estate law and wills resulted in us being in in a far better position to administer our father’s estate and having it resolved far earlier than we anticipated.  I highly recommend Nurture Law.

Very responsive throughout the whole process

We have recently had Kelly complete our wills for both myself and my partner. Kelly was professional, caring and incredibly good at what she does. We found her team to be very responsive throughout the whole process and would highly recommend their services to anyone.

4. Will and Estate Lawyers Australia

Getting your legal documents sorted doesn’t have to cost a fortune, especially with firms that run on a high-volume, streamlined model.

Will and Estate Lawyers Australia keeps things really simple with upfront fixed pricing, charging a flat $799 for a single document, so you know exactly what you’re getting into from the start.

When I rang their office to check how remote-friendly they are, the whole process actually felt surprisingly quick and straightforward.

They mainly deal with local succession rules and also offer a free initial phone call, which is handy if you just want to talk things through before committing.

Once everything’s ready, you can even sign your documents online using their secure remote system, so there’s no need to visit in person.

Just a heads-up, though: the low price is really aimed at basic setups. If your situation is more complex, like running a business or holding overseas assets, you’ll likely see the cost go up quite a bit.

Pros

  • Very affordable fixed rates
  • Secure remote document signing
  • Free initial telephone consultation
  • Full focus on Queensland law

Cons

  • Higher fees for complex estates

Efficient, informed, approachable and accommodating

My husband and I have recently engaged this firm to update our wills and EPOA’s. We have found them to be professional, efficient, informed, approachable and accommodating. Would not hesitate to recommend to others and have done so. Ben was all of the above and an asset to the organisation.

Low fuss way to have our wills prepared and signed

This was a very straight forward and low fuss way to have our wills prepared and signed. We only needed to attend the office once for signing which is very helpful to busy people. Michael listened carefully and was very helpful at explaining things in a very straight forward way.

I am happy to recommend this service.

5. O’Connor, Ruddy & Garrett Solicitors

Working with a law firm that’s been around for nearly a century definitely gives you a sense of trust and stability.

This long-running practice is led by award-winning lawyer Christopher O’Connor and takes a more boutique approach when it comes to estate disputes, so it feels a bit more personal than a big corporate setup.

They offer a free initial claim assessment, which is handy if you just want to understand where you stand before making any big decisions.

And if you need to contest a will or challenge an unfair distribution, I love their no-win, no-fee option.

Unfortunately, some clients have noted issues with unexpected billing differences on final invoices.

Others said there were a few communication hiccups when trying to get clarity around fees, and it could be quite frustrating when you’re already dealing with a stressful situation.

Pros

  • Long-standing firm
  • Award-winning legal leadership
  • Free initial claim assessment
  • No-win no-fee option available

Cons

  • Reported billing inconsistencies
  • Communication delays regarding fees

Provided excellent service

Chris O’Connor and the team at ORG have provided excellent service, comprehensive advice, to my wife and I in taking care of our estate planning, including wills, enduring powers of attorney, and wishes in connection with who would look after our children if we die and so many other things we would not have thought about if not for their big picture thinking and expertise.  Also, good follow up when we forgot to return some original documents, good humour and care in dealing with such sensitive issues.

Their expertise and professionalism were evident

I recently had the pleasure of receiving service at O’Connor, Ruddy, and Garrett, and I must say, it was truly impeccable. From the moment I walked in, the staff was welcoming and attentive, ensuring all my needs were met. Their expertise and professionalism were evident throughout my experience, making me feel valued and supported. I would highly recommend their services to anyone seeking exceptional quality and care.
