I donned my snorkel gear and jumped in, and immediately I was surrounded by a vibrant array of fish and other marine creatures. The visibility was amazing, and I could easily make out the details of the wrecks, even at depths of up to 10 meters.

One of the great things about The Wrecks is that it’s suitable for all skill levels. The shallowest part of the site is just a few meters deep, so even beginners can enjoy the experience.

For more experienced divers, there are plenty of opportunities to explore deeper parts of the wrecks and see some of the more elusive marine life that lives there. 

It’s important to note that The Wrecks is a protected marine park, and there are strict rules in place to preserve the fragile ecosystem. Visitors are not allowed to touch or disturb anything, and fishing is strictly prohibited.

The water itself is a stunning shade of blue and is so clear that you can see all the way to the bottom. It’s like something out of a postcard.

One of the things that makes the Blue Lagoon so unique is its location. It’s situated in a sand dune, which means that the water is completely natural and doesn’t come from any nearby rivers or streams.

As a result, the water is incredibly pure and free of any pollutants, making it safe for swimming and other water-based activities.

Speaking of activities, there’s plenty to do at the Blue Lagoon. Swimming is an obvious choice, and there are plenty of spots around the lagoon where you can dive in and cool off.

But there are also other options, like kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, and even fishing. There are a few companies that offer rentals for these activities, so it’s easy to get out on the water and have some fun.

If you’re not up for swimming or paddling, there are plenty of spots around the Blue Lagoon where you can just relax and take in the scenery. There are picnic areas with tables and benches, as well as plenty of spots to lay out a blanket and soak up the sun.

Bulwer Beach is located on the northern tip of Moreton Island, about an hour’s drive from the Tangalooma Island Resort. Despite its remote location, it’s worth the effort to get there.

One of the main attractions of Bulwer Beach is the Bulwer Wrecks. These old shipwrecks are scattered along the shoreline and make for a great photo opportunity.

It’s fascinating to see how nature has taken over these rusted and corroded vessels, and it’s easy to spend hours exploring the nooks and crannies of the wrecks.

If you’re feeling adventurous, you can also try your hand at snorkeling around the wrecks. The water is shallow and calm, making it a great spot for beginners.

The beach is surrounded by lush greenery, which gives it a secluded feel, and the calm waters make it ideal for swimming and snorkeling. One of the things that make Bulwer Beach unique is the abundance of wildlife.

As I strolled along the shoreline, I spotted a pod of dolphins playing in the distance. If you’re lucky, you might even spot a sea turtle or two. There’s also an abundance of birdlife, which makes Bulwer Beach a popular spot for birdwatching.

I still can’t believe I got to experience sandboarding in a desert located in Australia called the Moreton Island Desert! It was a truly unique experience, and I cannot recommend it enough to any thrill-seekers out there.

First things first, let’s talk about the location. Moreton Island Desert is situated at the island’s center and covers over 98 hectares of land, stretching for kilometers.

That’s right, kilometers of nothing but sand dunes! It’s almost like being transported to the Sahara Desert, except it’s located in Brisbane.

The adventure started as soon as I arrived at the Moreton Island Desert. The sand was scorching, and the heat was almost unbearable. But, that didn’t stop me from having an amazing time.

I was provided with a sandboard and given a brief on how to use it. It seemed easy enough – you just hop on the board and slide down the dunes. But, let me tell you, it’s not as easy as it sounds!

I’m not going to lie; it took me a few attempts to get the hang of it. I fell off the board a couple of times, but that’s part of the experience, right? The thrill of speeding down the dunes is like no other, and the adrenaline rush is truly addictive.

But, the best part of the Moreton Island Desert experience is the views from the top of the dunes. The panoramic view of the island from the sand dunes is breathtakingly beautiful. It’s an experience that cannot be missed.

As soon as I heard about the Tangalooma Helicopter Service, I knew I had to check it out. I mean, who wouldn’t want to experience the beauty of Moreton Island from the sky?

The Tangalooma Helicopter Service is one of the top attractions of the island, and I can see why. The first thing that caught my attention was the sleek and modern helicopter waiting for me at the launch site. 

The pilot was professional and friendly, putting me at ease before we took off. As we lifted off the ground, I couldn’t help but feel a rush of excitement. This was it – I was about to see Moreton Island from a completely different perspective.

The views from above were breathtaking. The crystal-clear waters, white sand beaches, and lush greenery were even more stunning from the air. We flew over the Tangalooma Wrecks and I could see the shapes of the sunken ships below.

We also flew over Cape Moreton Lighthouse and the Champagne Pools, and I could see the crowds of people gathered below. It was a surreal experience – like being in a movie.

One thing to keep in mind when booking the Tangalooma Helicopter Service is that it can be quite expensive. However, I found it to be worth every penny. The experience was truly unforgettable and one that I will never forget.

For a unique and adventurous way to explore Moreton Island, I highly recommend trying out Moreton Bay Holiday Afloat. As the name suggests, this activity involves sailing through Moreton Bay aboard your very own private houseboat.

My friends and I recently had the pleasure of experiencing this one-of-a-kind adventure, and let me tell you, it was an absolute blast! We rented a spacious houseboat equipped with all the modern amenities one could need for a comfortable stay.

The boat had a fully equipped kitchen, a cozy living room, a bathroom, and comfortable sleeping quarters. We set sail from Scarborough Marina, which was a short drive from Brisbane, and navigated our way toward Moreton Island.

The scenery along the way was breathtaking, with panoramic views of the stunning Moreton Bay and the gorgeous coastline of the island. We even spotted a pod of dolphins swimming alongside our boat!

Once we reached the island, we anchored our boat at a secluded cove and spent the rest of the day exploring the island’s various attractions.

We visited the Tangalooma Wrecks, Champagne Pools, and Cape Moreton Lighthouse, all of which were easily accessible by boat. We even had the opportunity to go snorkeling and saw a variety of colorful marine life.

In the evening, we returned to our houseboat and cooked up a delicious dinner using the fresh catch of the day that we had bought from a local fisherman earlier in the day. We enjoyed our meal on the deck while watching the sunset over the bay.

It was truly a magical experience!

The Tangalooma Wild Dolphin Feeding Program is organized by the Tangalooma Island Resort and has been running for over 30 years. The program takes place every evening, just before sunset.

I remember that we gathered on the beach with our guide, who gave us an informative talk about dolphins and their behavior. It was fascinating to learn about these incredible creatures and their social dynamics.

Then, the moment we had all been waiting for arrived – the dolphins appeared in the water, and we were able to wade in and feed them by hand. I was a little nervous at first, but the dolphins were so gentle and friendly that I soon relaxed and enjoyed it.

It was amazing to be so close to these beautiful animals and to feel their soft skin as they took the fish from our hands. We even got to see some playful splashing and jumping from the dolphins – it was like they were putting on a show just for us!
