The 5 Best Funeral Services in Brisbane with Options and Support for Every Family

Range of Services - We considered providers offering cremation, burial, memorial, and personalised options to meet different family needs. So no matter your choice, you’re sure to find a service that works for your situation.

Experience and Reputation - Only those with a strong track record and positive client feedback were included. This is because we wanted to ensure reliable, high-quality service during a difficult time.

Compassionate Support - We prioritized services known for empathetic guidance throughout. After all, grieving families should feel supported every step of the way, from initial arrangements to post-service follow-up.

Transparent Pricing - Knowing what to expect helps you plan without unexpected financial stress. We evaluated clarity of costs, including options for both budget-friendly and full-service arrangements.

Cultural and Religious Inclusivity - We saw to it that ceremonies can respect and honour the beliefs of the deceased and their family. Funeral homes able to cater to diverse traditions, faiths, and customs made our list.

My aunt passed away from breast cancer, with our family gathered at her side. We cried for hours, unable to do anything else because it seemed like the world had ended.

The question, “What now?” hung in the air. It wasn’t until the next morning that we realized we had to choose a coffin, plan the burial, and handle other details we never imagined we’d face.

We ended up speaking to a few different funeral homes before settling on the one that felt right for her and for us, and I kept wishing I’d had a clearer starting point.

So I’ve put together this list of the best funeral services in Brisbane that other families may also find helpful.

Be it a grand send-off, a memorial service with virtual attendance, or a special Orthodox ceremony, Brisbane Funeral Care does it all. Families who’ve chosen these services say the experience was stress-free from start to finish.

That’s largely thanks to the caring, hands-on team. We, ourselves, were impressed by how the friendly staff respectfully answered every question and gave a clear idea of pricing when we called.

As it turns out, the least you’ll pay is $1,975 for an unattended cremation, while full-service options start at $5,695.

For customised funerals, you’d have to request a quote, which many clients find reasonable. Let’s not forget the pre-arranged and pre-paid plans available for those who like to set things up early.

But for their regular services, some were overwhelmed with the strict day-before deadline for the 50% deposit required.

Pros

  • Offers a variety of funeral services
  • Stress-free experience
  • Caring, hands-on team
  • Clear pricing & reasonable quotes
  • Pre-arranged & pre-paid plans offered

Cons

  • Overwhelming 50% deposit

He was understanding and super accommodating and had all the information

“My father passed away and Matthew from Brisbane Funeral Care was our director. We are Orthodox so had some special religious requests and requirements. Matthew is a professional. He was understanding and super accomodating and had all the information we needed. The dad was perfect and we gave Dad a fantastic send off! Our family thanks Brisbane Funeral Care and recommends them as an honest, efficient and reasonable company.”

Matthew and the team created a beautiful memorial service

“Matthew and the team at Brisbane Funeral Care created a beautiful memorial service, and were attentive, compassionate and respectful throughout the experience. They arranged virtual attendance for extended and interstate family and friends who were not able to attend in person due to restrictions. It was a great comfort to be able to join the service and pay respects. Immense gratitude to Matthew and everyone at Brisbane Funeral Care for their professionalism and sincere care.”

Legacy Funerals has been arranging pre-planned and at-need funeral services for more than 25 years. Their lengthy experience has given them great attention to detail, which clients often point out.

From collecting the deceased’s remains for cremation or burial to on-the-day coordination, family members place their trust in the team’s work. Much of that comes down to the clear and respectful communication at every stage.

That’s why it’s no surprise to us that people feel comfortable sharing their wishes. So far, these have included a traditional chapel farewell, a religious ceremony in a church, and a multicultural service held outdoors.

With such variety, it’s great to see package prices cover plenty of extras. Then again, the separate $550 after-hours transfer fee to the mortuary is a bit heavy.

Pros

  • Over 25 years of experience
  • Pre-planned options available
  • Detail-oriented & end-to-end approach
  • Clear, respectful communication
  • Offers a variety of funeral services
  • Numerous packages offered

Cons

  • Costly after-hours transfer fee

A competitively priced package that suited our requirements perfectly

“Legacy Funerals and specifically Massimo, handled my late mother’s cremation brilliantly. The paperwork was collated well in advance, allowing for a seamless transition when the time came. A competitively priced package that suited our requirements perfectly. Massimo was responsive to all queries and maintained excellent communication from start to finish. It was a pleasure working with them, and great to finally meet Massimo when I collected my mother’s ashes in a well presented urn. I have no hesitation in recommending them as a respectful, dignified and caring team.”

My loved one and my family were both looked after with utmost care and grace

“Massimo and the team took care of every detail, from collecting my loved one to arranging the funeral and burial service. Massimo’s kindness and patience during this most difficult time was reassuring and his guidance and anticipation of questions or concerns helped us feel at ease so we could focus on our loved one and our family. I would recommend Legacy Funerals to anyone going through the loss of a loved one. My loved one and my family were both looked after with utmost care and grace.”

K.M.Smith’s tagline, “We think of everything,” rings true, as the bereaved describe services as beautiful and memorable. One client even got her late father’s singing as background music, and another had a Scottish-themed Mass request fulfilled.

That’s not all—you even get to have access to some excellent indoor and outdoor venues, suitable for any cultural or religious tradition. A popular pick for memorials is their very own historic Kate Mary Chapel, priced at $1,020.

The gatherings are also very well-organized—a standard upheld since 1883. This means coffins or urns adorned with flowers, thoughtful catering, and a support dog on hand.

With that level of care, along with their upfront pricing, we felt that their services are generally worth the cost if you ignore the uneven communication within the team.

In one case, a staff member initially told a client that a burial package didn’t include maintenance, only for the funeral director to later clarify that it did.

Pros

  • Beautiful, memorable services
  • Personal requests accepted
  • Excellent indoor & outdoor venues
  • Well-organized approach
  • Flowers & catering provided
  • Support dog on hand

Cons

  • Communication gaps between staff

Efficient and organized yet compassionate and caring

“Would thoroughly recommend. Efficient & organised yet compassionate & caring. Thank you Sue & Suzie for helping make my father’s farewell worthy of the wonderful man he was. Also thanks for going the extra mile & organising for us to have him singing at his own funeral. It was truly special to hear his voice again.”

Hanna really wanted as much as we did to give Mum a dignified farewell

“KM Smith – We think of everything and that is exactly what they did. Hanna Miley our esteemed funeral director at KM Smith Brookes Street office Bowen Hills was incredible. Right from the first meeting we knew we were in good hands. Empathetic, compassionate, professional and knowledgeable she did indeed think of everything.  Hanna took away the stress, was supportive and genuinely cared. Hanna really wanted as much as we did to give Mum a beautiful and dignified farewell. Quite simply she went above and beyond. All staff involved were a credit to the company and I would like to take this opportunity to thank David, Mark and Sherry. I cannot recommend KM Smith highly enough.”

The team’s compassionate and supportive approach is the highlight of many Evermore reviews. Clients often mentioned that special requests are handled with understanding, and schedules are adjusted around their timelines.

Such perks extend to all their package options, including the $2,750 no-service direct cremations and chapel funerals with burial starting at $6,990. Better yet, families vouch that the prices are all-inclusive, with no surprise fees.

Another noteworthy factor for us is Evermore’s experience with baby and infant funerals. Directors show extra care to grieving mothers, accommodating them promptly—even on public holidays, which we found particularly comforting.

Still, their multicultural ceremonies leave room for improvement. At times, specific prayers and symbolic elements of both Jewish and Christian traditions were overlooked, like forgetting to include certain scripture readings in the program.

Pros

  • Empathetic & supportive approach
  • Client-friendly scheduling
  • Various package options
  • All-inclusive prices
  • Expertise in baby & infant funerals

Cons

  • Occasional oversight of traditions

Mat was so accommodating and understanding to all of our needs

“We used Evermore Funerals for our baby son’s funeral 2 days ago and we can’t recommend them enough. Mat was so accommodating and understanding to all of our needs and worked around our schedules to meet us and even opened the funeral home for us to view our son on a public holiday. Our son’s little coffin was perfect and he was dressed in beautiful white silk. On the day of the funeral everything ran smoothly and perfectly. Thank you so much again Mat and team, we will forever be grateful. Nicole & Rob.”

Evermore should be everybody’s first choice for those final precious moments

“Matthew & his team at Evermore Funerals are simply incredible. Saying goodbye to your baby is something nobody should endure, yet Matthew made our journey through final goodbyes so perfect. Respectful, accommodating, empathetic and professional. You couldn’t ask for a better team of people to care for you & your family during an unimaginable time. Evermore should be everybody’s first choice for those final precious moments! Thank you will never be enough.”

Clients recall being guided throughout an emotionally overwhelming process with the help of Heaven Funerals. They’re a family-owned and operated service that includes supportive staff who guide families every step of the way.

It starts with the team’s funeral directors and embalmers, whose cultural experience enables them to carefully serve European, Asian, and other communities. Together, they bring over 50 years of experience handling funerals across various faiths.

We found this value reflected in their packages, as well. Starting at $2,750, cremations cover death certificates and transfer to the crematorium, and from $3,762 to $6,402 or more, burials already include the plot and interment fee.

On the downside, some family members noted a lack of service preparation. In one case, a director mentioned incorrect age and marital status details.

Pros

  • Guided client experience
  • Culturally aware team
  • Over 50 years of combined experience
  • Inclusive package options

Cons

  • Occasional preparation errors
