The 5 Best Cafes in Brisbane

The 5 Best Cafes in Brisbane

Ambience – Cafés are usually a go-to chill out spot amongst family and friends. Hence, it’s important for us to consider the overall feel of the café, whether for a quick catch up, or even as a work space.

Product selection – We checked if the café offers various selections of coffee, including cakes and pastries. We also assessed the quality of their coffee beans, and tea leaves.

Accessibility – It’s important for us to consider cafés with longer operating hours that can accommodate both early and late café-goers. We also considered a café with a good location, with good parking provision and bus stops nearby.

Facilities – Most customers would stay in a café for a long period of time. Hence, it would be best if there are convenient lounge spaces, and socket provisions.

Pros

  • Open seven days a week
  • Early morning operating hours
  • Supports advocacies and groups about sustainability

Cons

  • Serving time took longer than expected
  • Some instances of needing to improve consistency of food quality
  • Closes quite early in the afternoon

Frankie & George has been serving specialty coffee in the Brisbane neighbourhood since 2017. Residents have known the company through its continuous support of various sustainability advocacies.

In fact, it’s quite evident how they try to adapt sustainable practices inside the walls of their café. Whether hot or cold, customers could expect Frankie & George to serve their favorite coffee or tea using a reusable cup.

Because of this, we’re not surprised to see that there’s a growing support, especially to their clients who are known eco-friendly advocates.

However, we’ve noticed that their serving time took longer than expected. We’re not also surprised to hear that there are quite a number of complaints about serving inconsistent food quality.

We hope that they can revisit this, especially that they’re expected to serve hot food and drinks. By improving this, we think that Frankie & George can expect more customers to rave about their place.

On a lighter note, we like that they are open all days of the week. They are even perfect for those who would want to get their coffee fix early in the morning.

Reserving some seats is relatively easy. Whether that’s for breakfast, lunch, or even just a quick coffee grab, customers can conveniently book a slot on their website.

Pros

  • Caters organic produce & whole foods
  • Offers catering services

Cons

  • Limited store hours
  • No outdoor space
  • Not wheelchair accessible

Joining our list of the best cafés around Brisbane is Felix For Goodness. Among its counterparts, this café is expected to heavily cater to customers who are into organic produce and whole foods.

During our initial visit, we love how their staff proactively asked for our specific dietary requirements, ensuring that they take this in high regard. Still, customers have to take note of possible cross contamination should allergy concerns are in place.

We also love that we can tap Felix For Goodness for our catering needs. With just a few days to place advance orders, the café can make sure to handle food and beverage requirements for parties – big or small!

Even better, their space can also be closed for such private events. We’re even impressed with how the staff guided us on curating a special menu for an event we’re enquiring for.

Though the café is open seven days a week, we still find their operating hours a bit shorter than what the others offer. We think that this also impedes some customers from trying out their place, especially for some who would want to stay quite longer.

On the other hand, their café is conveniently located in the city. Parking provisions, bus stops and train stations are easily accessible, which is always a plus in our books.

We also enjoyed our stay in their cosy interior spaces which comes with a TV provision, too! However, without al fresco seating, those who would prefer to be seated outdoors may have to look for another café.

Pros

  • Stylish café; instagrammable place
  • Also offers wine on the menu

Cons

  • Closes early afternoon
  • No delivery provision
  • Some instances of reported rude staff

Among its counterparts, Marchetti Café focuses on serving an Italian menu in the Brisbane neighbourhood. Aside from the espresso, we love that the café also serves wine.

We only have qualms over the operating hours. We just wish the café could extend more hours during the night, especially since wine is part of their menu.

Nevertheless, we like that the café is built with a lot of character – one that exudes a stylish and classy look. Upon seeing the place, it feels like we’re being transported to Italy in an instant.

Because of this, customers love staying in and taking photos while they’re at it. We think that this unique touch helps in encouraging customers to visit.

They were a little bit pushy though in asking to see our check-in app to verify our booking. Despite this tiny hiccup, we nonetheless enjoyed our experience.

When it comes to their coffee, most of the customers agree with us that they’re one of the cafés in town who can provide a full-bodied taste. With this, Marchetti Café may be one of the better options if there’s a huge need for a caffeine kick.

Pros

  • Online booking and reservation
  • Great view at their outdoor deck
  • Offers all-day breakfast
  • Caters to all dietary needs
  • Can arrange customisable packages for parties and functions

Cons

  • Expect a high volume of customers
  • Phone lines can get quite busy

Though relatively new in the café scene, Chapter IV has been making a mark as one of Brisbane’s top cafés to date. One of the most highlighted corners in their café is the view at their outdoor deck.

However, because of this remarkable view, we’re not surprised to see that their café remains full throughout the day. It is highly suggested to book a table to avoid longer queues – or even being turned away.

Booking can either be placed through email or via their hotline. We suggest having some patience as their phone lines can get quite busy throughout the day.

We also love Chapter IV’s food selections. We’re even impressed that they can cater to all dietary requirements, which instantly makes them a crowd favourite.

Those who enjoy having their breakfast at any time of the day will have Chapter IV on their list, too.

This café can also arrange party packages not exceeding 100 people. Clients love that they can maximise a good ambience, as well as a customisable menu that can cater to all types of customers.

On top of that, the café is also kid-friendly. With their playroom provision, the adults can surely enjoy their coffee fix, while the kids are playing.

Overall, with their quick service and great view of the city, there’s no doubt that Chapter IV deserves to be on the top list of best cafés in Brisbane.

Cons

  • Some reports of needing to improve taste and quality of menu

Injecting some tropical and fresh vibe to the local coffee culture in Brisbane is Pawpaw Café. Among its counterparts, Pawpaw has extended operating hours, perfect for those who would want to get some coffee or wine at night.

Aside from these drink selections, they have designed a specialty cuisine that can cater across all cultures. Customers can expect a fusion of both old and modern recipes, perfect for any season.

Upon entering their café, the friendly staff immediately greeted us and found us a good seat. We even love that they informed us that they can cater to all dietary requirements, which earns them top marks from us.

However, a few customers we’ve spoken to mentioned that there were instances of cross contamination. Nevertheless, dining out is always a risk, so it’s best to be aware.

Moving on, another thing we love about them is that they offer delivery and pick-up services. This tells us that customers can place their orders online, perfect options for those who wouldn’t have the patience to endure their long queues.

Pawpaw Café offers catering services, allowing us to not worry about our provision for the next gathering. We even love how we can quickly send out an inquiry on their website.
