- FAQs About Reptile Exhibitions in Brisbane
Fun fact: Some reptiles like to cuddle. But that doesn’t mean I recommend hugging a wild boa constrictor. They’re too introverted for that. What I can do instead to sate your reptile curiosity, is point you to some of the best reptile exhibitions in Brisbane.
I’ve seen them in action in the past 2024 exhibits and expos and I can say now that these armored critters can be just as interesting as our cats and dogs.
At the moment, there aren’t any upcoming reptile exhibits left for 2024, but 2025 has plenty in store. Some of them also have limited tickets and attendance windows. So mark your calendars for these upcoming 2025 reptile exhibits in Brisbane.
Reptile Exhibits Overview in Brisbane, Australia
Reptiles consist of a dizzying variety of animal species and can consist of anything from snakes, lizards, turtles, and crocodiles. Australia just so happens to be home to over 860 reptile species.
To give you an idea of how vast this is, North America only has around 280 reptile species even if it’s a bigger landmass. Reptile exhibitions in Brisbane and Australia, for that matter, can present more interesting reptiles, though not all of them.
Every year, the city of Brisbane has several reptile exhibitions (though some are a mix of aquatic animals). They do have a set schedule and open rarely– reptiles can be finicky, after all.
That means your visitation schedules are limited and dictated by the reptiles and their handlers to ensure the animals don’t get stressed and are in a healthy state. So without further ado, here they are.

To start the year right, here’s a snake exhibit that will help you slither in effortlessly through 2025. It’s a child-focused event though they still need supervision.
NaturallyGC for Scaly Reptiles will feature live snakes, lizards, and turtles and their importance in the ecosystem. As the exhibition’s title implies, it takes place on the Gold Coast, which is just a few hours away from Brisbane.
Tickets won’t start selling until January 5, 2025, so you have plenty of room to prepare for this occasion. It’s quite a popular event too so I recommend marking that ticket-selling date on your calendar in case they run out fast.

Again in Gold Coast, we have a broader exhibition featuring not just reptiles but also their immediate environment in the Gold Coast region of Queensland. More than that, they are some of the rarest plants and animals you can find.
If you’re looking for elusive reptiles, this is your chance to see them. This exhibit typically only happens once or twice a year so I recommend not missing it.
Like the snake exhibition above, ticket selling also opens up on January 1, 2025, and the event takes place in February. It’s a great opportunity to see the best of Gold Coast since it’s actually home to 3032 species of animals and 3337 species of plants.

The Pet Show, also just within Brisbane City, is not exclusively about reptiles but covers a wide variety of pets– often the furry ones. However, they also consider the scaly ones as some of them, such as Iguanas, are excellent pets.
This event is better suited for people who already have reptile pets and want to bring them along for some socialization with other species. Don’t worry as they have a dedicated Scales & Tales section for reptiles.
This might be your pet reptile’s time to shine if you’ve taught them some tricks since the conference also allows for demos. Who knows, your wizard lizard might just become the next big star in Brisbane.

There’s a huge overlap between reptiles and amphibians and if you want to see both of them in action, the Reptile & Aquarium Expo is our top pick. Consider this a special 2-for-1 event, tickets go on sale in December 2024.
They have both terrarium and aquarium booths though don’t expect anything too big for the fishes as the aquarium sizes can be limited. Some of the displays are interactive and guests are even allowed to engage with some of the fishes or reptiles.
As always, there’s a whole host and lineup of professionals ready to explain the intricacies of reptilian life with a bonus on aquatic life in case you’re also curious about them.

Meet Wildlife Neighbors can be a good start if you want to meet and greet some of the less intimidating Australian wildlife from mammals and birds to amphibians– and of course, reptiles.
It’s a short event, but it could be a nice break from all the urbanity around as you get to see and interact with some of the closest and most common wildlife in Brisbane.
Meet Wildlife Neighbors is also conveniently located in Chermside– an accessible district close enough to Stafford, which also offers potential historical DIY tours. Ticket sales will be available on March 22, 2025.

Not keen on stepping outside of Brisbane itself? Then the Brisbane Reptile Expo 2025 will be the most convenient option for you and quite possibly the biggest. It has one of the longest hours out of all the reptile exhibits here.
This is typically advertised as a family-friendly event and includes some of the top reptile experts in Australia.
They also show live demonstrations of different reptile species including
handling techniques for those curious about turning reptiles into pets.
Also, if you’re that dedicated, you might even want to look like a reptile yourself with their free face painting.

Going back to Gold Coast’s beauties, the Naturally Gold Coast Environmental Festival is an even bigger showcasing of the region’s most iconic flora and fauna. It just happens that some of Australia’s most iconic animals are reptiles.
They have native reptile encounters here, along with other wildlife in Australia such as bees and possums. More importantly, this event is also partly educational and teaches participants how to manage the balance between nature and urban living.
Surprisingly enough, they also have live music though the event only takes place within three hours. All in all, it’s a potentially great show for everyone as it’s also child-friendly.
