5 Best Chicken Wing Spots in Brisbane Compared on Flavour and Crunch

Flavour and quality: I checked the seasoning, crispiness and sauces on each spot's wings. Wings that miss on flavour or crunch aren't worth the order.

Menu variety: I looked at how many wing flavours each spot offers, plus extras like burgers, vegan options and à la carte choices. A mixed group needs something for everyone.

Atmosphere: I considered the seating and overall vibe at each spot. That shows whether it suits a game night, a family dinner or a quiet meal.

Pricing and value: I weighed portion sizes against the price and checked for happy hours and package deals. A good wing night shouldn't cost a fortune.

Wings are on the menu at plenty of chicken restaurants in Brisbane, but a great plate needs crunch, flavour and the right setting for your night.

So I compared local wing spots on flavour, menu variety, atmosphere and price, from sports bars to all-you-can-eat buffets.

Here are the best chicken wing spots in Brisbane for a game night, a birthday or a late-night craving.

1. Winghaus Edward Street

Website: hunterstreethospitality.com.au/venues/winghaus/edward-st

Address: 144 Edward Street

Contact: +61 7 5651 2899 | [email protected]

Hours: Monday to Thursday, 11:30 AM to 10:30 PM | Friday to Saturday, 11:00 AM to 12:00 AM | Sunday, 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM

Watching the game is better with a plate of wings in front of you, but few bars get both right. Winghaus Edward Street is a downtown spot that pairs American-style comfort food with live sport on twenty screens.

Their wing list is long, and the flavours are bold. On top of that, they serve burgers, loaded nachos and local beers on tap, so groups have plenty to share.

That suited our table last week, when I grabbed a seat with some close mates. The service was fast, and the huge platters were easy to share while we cheered on our team.

However, the sports-bar atmosphere is frequently loud, so it may not suit diners who want a quiet, relaxed meal.

Pros

  • 20 live sports screens
  • Bold, extensive wing flavours
  • Burgers and loaded nachos
  • Local beers on tap

Cons

  • Loud bar atmosphere

Her recommendation on what food to order was so helpful.

Amy was so helpful and very welcoming. We were here on a girls trip for 3 days and we came to wing house everyday to see Amy. Her recommendation on what food to order was so helpful. Always had a smile on her face.

Typical but above average wing venue fare.

Typical but above average wing venue fare. Food was fresh and hot. The higliht has to be the selection of drafts beers. As an old school type it was great to see Resch’s draft on tap. A litre for a very fair price can’t be argued with.

2. Seoul Bistro

seoul-bistro

Website: seoulbistro.com.au

Address: Shop 2, 152 Turton Street, Sunnybank

Contact: +61 7 3345 6360 | [email protected]

Hours: Monday to Thursday, 12:00 PM to 9:30 PM | Friday, 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM | Saturday, 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM | Sunday, 11:00 AM to 9:30 PM | Open seven days, including public holidays

Feeding a hungry group usually means choosing between a buffet and a proper menu. Seoul Bistro gives you both in Sunnybank.

The all-you-can-eat buffet centres on towering platters of golden, crisp Korean fried chicken in savoury glazes.

If your group would rather order separately, the à la carte menu keeps things flexible.

They’ve served Sunnybank since 2013 and built a large local following, which is reassuring when you’re booking for a crowd.

Planning a visit is simple too. You can reserve a table online, and they’re open seven days a week, public holidays included, so locking in a spot for a group is easy.

That said, the kitchen stops taking final orders thirty minutes before closing, so late diners should arrive earlier.

Pros

  • All-you-can-eat chicken buffet
  • Separate à la carte menu
  • Online table bookings
  • Open seven days a week

Cons

  • Final orders 30 minutes before closing

Hours: Monday to Sunday, 12:00 PM to late

Not everyone in a group wants chicken, which makes picking a wing spot tricky. Yard Doggs in Fortitude Valley gets around that with American comfort food and Mexican-inspired bites.

Alongside a range of chicken wing flavours, the menu has juicy burgers, loaded tacos and vegan options. That means everyone at the table has something to order.

The setting is relaxed too, and the outdoor beer garden is the best part. I dropped by for weekend drinks with close friends last month, and sitting outside with crispy wings and a cold craft beer was the highlight of our evening.

Just keep in mind that a 15% surcharge applies on designated public holidays, so a holiday meal costs more.

  • Outdoor beer garden
  • Vegan options

Cons

  • 15% public holiday surcharge

The wings were cooked to perfection, with a crispy exterior

I recently visited Yard Doggs in Fortitude Valley and had an amazing experience. The chicken wings I tried, specifically the Smoke BBQ and Honey BBQ flavors, were incredibly delicious. The wings were cooked to perfection, with a crispy exterior and tender meat. The combination of spices in each bite was mouthwatering.

Hours: Monday to Friday, 10:30 AM to 2:00 PM and 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM | Saturday to Sunday, 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM and 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM

Wing lovers who crave barbecue will find plenty to like at Big Roddy’s Rippin’ Rib Shack. They serve authentic American barbecue on trendy Fish Lane in South Brisbane.

The shack started as a humble weekend market stall in West End. They have since grown into a dining destination near South Bank Parklands.

Since they’re now a destination, it helps to plan ahead. You can reserve a table in advance, or order takeaway online and enjoy the food at home.

Whichever way you order, the wings sit alongside their signature tender pork and beef ribs. Juicy burgers and maple butter cornbread round out the hearty American-style menu.

However, the kitchen leans heavily on rich American food, so anyone after lighter dishes or non-American cuisine may find the menu limited. You may also struggle to reach them by phone during peak hours.

Pros

  • Specialises in American barbecue
  • Pork and beef ribs
  • Reservations and online takeaway
  • Near South Bank Parklands

Cons

  • Limited menu for lighter or non-American food
  • Limited phone availability at peak hours

Wednesday wing special is great!

Wednesday wing special is great! Though grab a few extra as sometimes the wings are a bit small. Still a great deal. I like their house lager too. The tables and chairs are of non-standard proportions which can make things a bit squishy and awkward.

5. KaiKai Chicken St Lucia

kaikai-chicken-st-lucia

Website: kaikaichicken.com

Address: 1/225 Hawken Drive, St Lucia

Contact: +61 490 793 890

Hours: Tuesday to Sunday, 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM | Monday, closed

A fried chicken buffet is only worth the trip if the chicken is fresh. KaiKai Chicken in St Lucia sources their chicken every day from trusted local suppliers, which matters when chicken is the whole meal.

The same care goes into the flavour. The signature yangnyum sauce is made in-house daily from fresh local ingredients, which sets the all-you-can-eat buffet apart from plain fried chicken.

As for when to go, KaiKai is built for evening meals, with dine-in and takeaway options.

Birthday buffet promotions are also on offer when you book in advance online.

Just be aware that they’re closed on Mondays, and the kitchen stops serving food thirty minutes before closing time, so plan your evening around both.

Pros

  • All-you-can-eat chicken buffet
  • In-house yangnyum sauce
  • Dine-in and takeaway options
  • Birthday buffet promotions

Cons

  • Closed on Mondays
  • Food service ends 30 minutes before closing

The food is absolutely delicious so many wing flavour

This place gets over 1000 customers a week and when we showed up there was two groups of more than 40 people each entering with no one coming out. We were initially worried it might be packed and cramped inside. But to our delight it was spacious and plenty of seating! The food is absolutely delicious so many wing flavour options and with an all you can eat menu you can’t go wrong! There are lots of hot chip combinations and dips and some sides. Will be definitely taking friends and family here in the future!

Will definitely be back here with a bigger group next time too!

Awesome place, super affordable for the value. Had the buffet option with all the sides for $25 and had unlimited chicken and ice tea. Only wish would be that they had a typical buffalo flavour and a super spicy chicken wing, otherwise the flavours were unique and interesting and tasty. The Mac and cheese was also very interesting as a a side along with the fries.

Service was awesome and the guy who served us was insanely friendly and helpful he entire time. Will definitely be back here with a bigger group next time too!
