A Sponty Getaway to Gold Coast (Don’t Surf or Get Sunburned!)

So, let me tell you about this wild day trip I and my best friend took to the Gold Coast. It was one of those totally spontaneous, “throw everything in the car and go” kind of adventures.

I swear, sometimes those unplanned trips turn out to be the best—although I have forgotten to pack sunscreen (that’s my biggest mistake!). So, we jumped in the car and headed south from Brisbane, chasing the promise of sun and surfing.

Now, I’m no pro surfer, but there’s something exhilarating about getting tossed around by the waves. So, if you’re up for a spontaneous adventure, pack that sunscreen, grab your board, and head to the Gold Coast—it’s worth the sunburn!

Where is Gold Coast?

gold-coast

On the east coast, right along the Pacific Ocean, nestles the Gold Coast. It’s between Brisbane to the north and the New South Wales border to the south, so it’s pretty easy to get to if you’re coming from either direction.

What is the main street in Gold Coast?

The main street in Gold Coast is Cavill Avenue, right in Surfers Paradise, and is packed with shops, restaurants, and nightlife. This bustling street is where you’ll find a lot of action, whether you’re looking to grab a bite or do some shopping.

How to Get to Gold Coast

If you’re coming from Brisbane, you can hop on the train from Brisbane Central to Varsity Lakes Station and then catch a bus or a tram to your final destination.

Alternatively, if you’re flying in, the Gold Coast Airport is the closest, and it’s just a short drive from the city. You can grab a taxi or an Uber from the airport, or if you prefer public transport, there’s a bus service that will take you straight into the city.
