Although anyone can visit, the Llama farm is only open for guided tours. That’s why all visitors are encouraged to secure their booking online before visiting.
Llama Farm owner Shane has been dedicated to providing the best possible home for these amazing creatures and has named all 75 llamas. Yes, every single one of the llamas on this farm has a name.
Things You Need to Know
Best Time to Go: We recommend visiting The Llama Farm in the morning, as the temperature is cooler and the animals are more interactive at this hour.
Considering the seasons, autumn and spring are the most ideal. It makes the terrain more comfortable. In the summer, visiting earlier is ideal, and we recommend bringing sun protection.
Essential Amenities: The farm features Parking on-site near the visitor entry. There are also toilets available at the tour hub and gift shop that features llama-themed souvenirs.
Accessibility: Although the farm welcomes public tours, it wasn’t designed for wheelchair use. The terrain is rocky and hilly, and it is difficult for wheelchairs to navigate the area.
How to Get to The Llama Farm
Getting there by car: The Llama Farm is about 45 minutes away from Brisbane CBD. Driving your own vehicle is by far the most reliable and convenient transportation option.
Just pop The Llama Farm, 563 Riverside Drive, Pine Mountain, QLD, into your GPS for the best route.
Parking: Parking is available at the entrance of the farm within the grassed area. On busy days, the staff may direct you to a parking space.
Getting there through Public Transport: We don’t recommend taking public transportation to the Llama Farm, as it can be limited in availability. The nearest stop is Ipswich Train Station, but you’ll still need a taxi or private transfer to reach the farm.

The morning Faces of the Farm Tour is a friendly animal tour that showcases the different animals at the farm, including the largest herd of llamas in Queensland.
Llamas are generally calm and gentle toward other creatures, especially humans, which allows guests to interact with them. We were able to pet and take selfies with these wonderful creatures with ease.
During the two-hour tour, the guide lectured us about llama farm life. To have the full farm tour experience, they even allowed us to help him with farm duties, including feeding and brushing the llamas.
Unlike crowded attractions, this particular tour felt personal and genuine.

Since the farm is also home to other animals, you’ll be able to meet them along the tour. They have donkeys, miniature goats, and more.
We got to meet “Percy,” one of the farm’s mature peacocks, who stole the show when he displayed his majestic feathers. Then, there’s “Rodney,” the rooster who enjoys being near his peacock friend.
The farm owners breed donkeys as well, so expect to see a few of them in the farm’s premises. We were greeted by “Duncan,” one of the Australian Teamster donkeys.
Book a guided llama walk

At this farm, you don’t just get to feed the llamas, you get to take them on a walk with you. The Llama Farm offers an afternoon guided llama walk.
The guided llama walk is particularly popular for couples looking for a fun date activity. The delightful weather and the afternoon’s sublime sunlight make the most romantic backdrop.
Along the walk, we strolled side by side with the gentle llamas through the stunning grounds of Pine Mountain, overlooking Mount Samson in the distance.
However, the llama walk has age restrictions, requiring guests to be at least 10 years of age to lead a Llama. Visitors can choose their special llama to walk on a lead along a designated trail on the farm.
Swing by the gift shop

The Llama Farm features a gift shop, offering llama-inspired items. They sell stuffed toys and homeware.
We also bought the llama soap, which came in four fragrances (lavender llama, llama latte, llama-luxe, and llama-naide). The llama latte smelled absolutely delightful, and it felt like bathing in your favorite aromatic coffee.
Visitor Tips and Reminders
Pro Tips: The Llama Farm is only open on weekends and selected public holidays. These dates can be booked quickly, so we recommend booking several weeks in advance to avoid disappointment. Don’t wash the car before your visit, as you will encounter muddy roads on your way to the farm. Dress comfortably! We suggest wearing closed-toe shoes and a hat, since you’ll be walking outdoors. Respect the animals. The llamas are gentle but have their own personalities. Follow the guide’s instructions when leading or petting. Between the llamas and countryside views, you’ll have plenty of photo-worthy moments. We highly suggest bringing your camera and documenting every bit of the day on the farm. |
