Pros
- Great location near the river with lots of shopping and dining options
- Free shuttle to the airport
- Rooms have microwave and fridge
Cons
- Doesn’t offer room service
- Motel is older than other accommodations in the area
Riverview Motel is the perfect budget accommodation in Brisbane! If you’re going to stay in River City, why not choose a place that’s near the river?
The price per night is around $125 but could change depending on the date or season. But generally, their rates are pretty affordable all year round.
We liked that the Brisbane River is just a short walk from the motel. It’s great that it’s situated in a quiet upscale residential area, but still there are plenty of places to visit nearby.
One of them is Portside Wharf where we found a lot of shopping and dining destinations! We also hopped onto a ferry which is a fun way to see the city!
You can also opt to just stay in as they offer cozy rooms where you can just rest and relax. The rooms have Wi-fi, flat screen TV, a microwave and toaster, and a bar fridge.
We also appreciated that they have free shuttle services to the airport, which is really convenient for those who have early flights out.
However, we did have to buy food outside as this motel doesn’t have room service. But the good thing is, it’s pretty close to a lot of restaurants.
Also, we noticed that the motel is older than other accommodations in the area. However, we think the stay was still worth it for the price.

Pros
- Spacious parking, can accommodate trailers and boats
- Near hospitals, restaurants, shopping center, airport
- Caters to medical guests
Cons
- Charges late cancellation fee
- Some guests say that the place isn’t properly maintained
If you’re looking for a budget-friendly accommodation on Brisbane’s Northside, then Chermside Motor Inn is a great choice!
You can book a twin room which starts from $145 a night, a queen room and kitchenette for $140, and a family room for $160. We think the prices are still pretty affordable given their amenities.
We love that the motel has a saltwater swimming pool, barbecue grill, self-service laundry, parking for boats and trailers, and disabled facilities.
For every room, you can expect free Wi-fi, cable TV, microwave, bar fridge, coffee/tea maker, and room service. There are also a lot of food options nearby so we found the location to be very convenient as well.
We saw that the motel is within walking distance from hospitals such as Prince Charles Hospital and Holy Spirit Northside Private Hospital, which is good to know.
And we’d like to highlight that they also cater to medical guests who are patients or carers at the hospital. They provide bulk billing through the Patient Travel Subsidy Scheme, which directly bills the hospital for your accommodation.
We also like that they have interconnecting rooms available for bigger families, so it’s a great choice for big groups as well.
But the downside is, we were told that they charge a fee for late cancellations as you need to inform them at least 48 hours prior. Also, we observed that the place is a bit run down and isn’t well-maintained anymore.

Pros
- Great location near ferry terminal, airport, restaurants and bars
- Provides free shuttle to ferry terminal and airport
- Offers promo for corporate bookings
- Allows early check-in and late check-out (depends on room availability)
Cons
- Rates are more expensive compared to others
- Shuttle service only available on weekdays until 3pm
Kingsford Smith Motel is one of the highest rated motels in Brisbane and that’s why it gets an instant spot on our list!
It’s easy to see why it’s one of the best budget accommodations in the River City. First, we love that it’s situated just a few meters from the Brisbane Cruise Terminal and it’s just a 10-minute drive to the airport!
We also appreciate that they offer free shuttle service to the domestic and international airport. Plus, it’s within walking distance from restaurants, bars, and the Eat Street Market!
Second, we think it’s a great place to stay if you’re traveling for work since they have special offers for corporate bookings! Rooms can be upgraded when available and late cancellations until 3pm (on the day) are allowed if ever business plans change.
We found the rooms to be clean, elegant, and spacious and we also noticed that they did renovations recently, so booking here would definitely be worth it!
What’s more is, we enjoyed their saltwater pool which is perfect if you want to take a quick dip or if you just want to sit outside and relax.
We also love that they allow early check-ins and late check-outs depending on availability. And they informed us that there’s a $40 charge for late check-outs.
Their rate for a superior twin room starts at $175, which is more expensive than others. But if you want to ensure a comfortable stay, then we think Kingsford Smith Motel is a great choice!

Pros
- Location is in a quiet residential area north of the CBD
- Offers covered parking for bigger vehicles
- Spacious rooms with kitchenette
Cons
- A bit pricey compared to others
- Some instances of unpleasant communication with reception staff
In a quieter side of town, there’s Albion Manor, located just 6 kilometers north of the Brisbane center and 8 kilometers to the airport.
We think it’s the ideal choice if you’re searching for a place that’s away from the bustle of the city but still very much accessible with a train station just a few meters away.
We found it to be a charming little place within a residential area along Sandgate Road. And we like that they have a spacious covered parking area which can also accommodate bigger vehicles.
Their amenities include a swimming pool, self-service laundry with washer and dryer, and an outdoor barbecue area where you can enjoy a meal!
If you wish to eat out, we discovered that a lot of restaurants are just a short walk away. They have Thai, Turkish, and Indian food, as well as tapas, American ribs, and some fast food restaurants.
Their room rates start at $200 for a deluxe queen room. And it’s great that the rooms are equipped with a flat screen TV, Wi-fi, air conditioning, heater, microwave, bar fridge, coffee/tea maker, and a kitchenette with basic facilities.
We think their rates are pricier than most 3-star hotels but it’s surely more spacious, and every room comes with a kitchenette, too. So for us, this place is ideal for extended stays if the price is within budget.
However, some guests shared about some unpleasant experiences with reception staff as they weren’t properly welcomed or the staff was just smoking outside. We just hope they’ve addressed these concerns immediately.

Pros
- Great choice for business trips
- Has conference/meeting rooms
- Daily airport drop-offs in the morning
- Affordable prices
Cons
- Restaurant is closed but room service is still available
- Shuttle service might have irregular schedule
The Comfort Inn & Apartment Northgate Airport is one of the best budget hotels in Brisbane if you’re looking for a cheap place near the airport!
We also love that they have more than basic amenities such as a restaurant and bar, swimming pool, copy and fax machine, computer with internet, and safety deposit box.
What’s more is, we like that they have conference and meeting rooms as well. With these facilities, we think it would also be an ideal place for business trips!
In addition, their standard amenities include free Wi-fi, parking, and laundry facilities. Rates start at $147 for a queen studio room, which we feel is pretty affordable given their range of services and amenities.
We also found it really convenient that they provide free shuttle service to the airport daily from 6:30am – 10am (not including public holidays).
Meanwhile, The Gateway Restaurant and Bar is their in-house dining service which offers breakfast and dinner daily. They serve contemporary Australian dishes along with a selection of wines and beer.
But unfortunately, we were told that the restaurant is closed due to COVID. But on the brighter side, we can still order off their menu through room service, which is still quite convenient.
Also, we spoke with some guests who shared that the shuttle service isn’t available all the time, so some had to call a taxi at the last minute. So we suggest to ask the staff beforehand if there will be changes in shuttle ride schedules.
