Private/Taxi: Take the route to Adelaide St and get off at Brisbane City Hall.

Bicycle: Turn to Adelaide St and get off at Brisbane City Hall.

Derived from its name, you can explore a hundred artworks from the museum’s collection! You’ll get to know Brisbane’s landmarks, valuable beliefs for individuals and communities and even how Brisbane is established to the world. 

Your guide will all explain them in Mandarin, so you don’t have to worry about language barriers. It’s divided into historical and contemporary artworks which will make you understand and appreciate Brisbane more. 

Among the famous artists who have their artworks displayed here are William Bustard, Margaret Cliento, Charles Lancaster and Sam Fullbrook.

Perspectives of Brisbane

Instead of mixed artworks, the Perspective of Brisbane focuses on people, events and Brisbane’s landscape that are changing in a fast-paced manner. 

You’ll learn about our city’s history and culture which will be tackled through photographs, films and stories.

Location: Level 3, City Hall

Ages: All Ages

The Focus Shift exhibition anchors on the different perspectives of Brisbane in day to day life. Some artworks are made when Brisbane was just a town while others are when our city already became a metropolis. 

Being here feels like walking in time – from the past to the present. Plus, you’ll also appreciate the close-up shots of the famous Story Bridge here.

If you like old-fashioned things or are just simply a history buff, you’ll appreciate plenty of historical heritage objects like the stained-glass windows, mosaic tiles and neo-classical facade in a towering elegant ceiling during this tour.

There’s also a large Rome-Pantheon-inspired auditorium where Father Henry Willis & Sons Pipe Organ with around 4,400 pipes sits. This auditorium has hosted several events for various artists around the world, too.

Please take note that you can’t eat during this tour. Meanwhile, photos are allowed but make sure that your flash is turned off. 

Plus, if you’re going to photograph your tour guide or fellow visitors, make sure to ask permission first. Like the Museum Highlights Tour in Mandarin, it’s also free of charge.

Whenever we visit the Museum of Brisbane, we always stop by the Shingle Inn Cafe for a quick break. They specialise in savoury sandwiches, cakes, teas and flavourful meals. 

If you’re into this kind of food, we highly recommend this cafe before leaving Brisbane! Btw, this cafe has been established since 1936, so you can trust them for quality service.

In fact, our all-time favourite is Bacon & Egg Breakfast Wrap paired with classic coffee. It’s filled with lots of bacon and packed with scrumptious ingredients that will leave you feeling oh-so-good!

In fact, our ultimate favourite is their crispy battered flathead served with house salad, rustic fries, aioli and lemon. 

Although it’s one of Goldfinch’s classics, it still gives the satisfaction your taste buds are looking for – a must-try indeed when you visit Goldfinch Restaurant and Street Cafe!
