Technology – it’s crucial to pick a structural engineer in Brisbane with software applications that can handle complex construction designs and analyses.
Pricing – we assessed the average cost of services of each engineering firm and selected those with the rates commensurate to the quality of their work.

  • 2 decades of experience
  • Fast turn-around
  • Efficient communication
  • Uses cutting-edge tech and software

  • Higher price point
  • Vague insurance policy

Armed by almost 20 years of experience, Cornell Engineers is one of the most notable names in the local engineering consultancy trade.

First off, the reason why Cornell Engineers made its way to our radar is their in-depth knowledge in all sorts of structures and building codes, from residential and healthcare spaces to commercial and industrial buildings.

Their large pool of clientele includes residential owners, business owners, building designers, architects, government entities, and more. That they’re trusted by these many sectors says a lot about the quality of its services.

We really like that Cornell Engineers took the time not only to meet us but to explain in detail their services during the early stages, which immediately put us at ease. It’s always a plus in our books if a company is accommodating even before a deal is finalised.

These guys use modern, cutting-edge technology not only in their everyday work but also in communication with their clients! Whether via video conference or email, getting in touch with their team is no hassle.

A quick turnaround is something you can expect from these folks! It’s that standard they’ve set for all their projects to allow clients to transition into the construction phase immediately.

However, we wish that Cornell Engineers’ services were a bit less expensive! Engineering consultancy is by no means cheap, but customers would always instinctively choose companies with cheaper rates.

  • Multi-skilled staff
  • Cost-effective solutions
  • High-level quality control
  • Projects are finished on time

  • Rates could be lower
  • Works with sub-consultants
  • Focuses more more residential structure engineering

CST Consulting Engineers is another top-rated engineering firm on Google Reviews, so we had to find out why by booking an appointment. Then, our initial talks with these guys ultimately led us to hiring their firm!

These guys describe themselves as proactive, modern civil and structural engineers in Brisbane, specialising in residential spaces. So whatever service your house might need to improve its structural integrity, expect that CST can do it!

We especially like their versatility as an engineering firm. Not only do they do home renovations and repairs, they can design and detail new houses and house extensions as well.

Some engineering firms mainly focus on building inspections, so we appreciate them for being well-rounded residential-focused companies.

Another reason we had initial trust with CST is that they’ve worked with architects, building designers, and home builders. Some of their clients are prominent names such as Engineers Australia, EAC Constructions, TWMT Group, and many more.

However, we noticed that CST sometimes works with sub-consultants. That means they temporarily take in some people whose skills might not have been vetted to help with their projects.

Personally, that’s not really a deal-breaker for us, but if it is for you, then you might want to look for other options!

  • More than 40 years of experience
  • Open residential, commercial and industrial clients
  • Excellent customer service
  • Open on weekends

  • Higher price point
  • Slow turnaround time

Established in 1972, Morgan Consulting Engineers has grown into one of the most trusted constructions firms in Brisbane–and we understand why!

During our initial consultation, we discovered that this firm has completed a diverse range of projects, including warehouses, unit developments, learning facilities, and even industrial spaces. These are testimonies to the extent of their skills as an engineering firm.

The firm puts an emphasis on coming up with innovative designs and having a practical approach to projects. Though prices are steep, we believe that you’ll be getting the bang your buck with their attitude and workmanship.

Apart from their practical solutions, another thing we like about Morgan Consulting Engineers is how their staff are quick to respond to our requests. You can’t say the same about other structural engineers in Brisbane.

Perhaps what makes them stand out is that they’re the only firm that operates on weekends. This is good news for people who are too busy on weekdays!

Although Morgan Consulting Engineers seems capable of doing it all, we did find the turnaround time a bit disappointing. It took quite longer than expected for our project to finish.

If timeline isn’t an issue for you, then the firm is no doubt a great option. Just a friendly reminder that there are definitely other firms that can deliver results within their projected timeline!

  • Competitively priced services
  • Easy to work with
  • More than 20 years of experience

  • Limited manpower
  • Questionable customer service

Looking for a structural engineer in Brisbane that can optimise spaces for residential developments? Farr Engineers might be the one for you!

First off, we love that these guys aren’t exclusive to just Brisbane residents. They carry out a wide range of engineering projects in Northern NSW and Regional QLD too!

When it comes to structural designs, you can expect that their team will be using only the latest design equipment and software over the course of your project. All of their tools are supplied only by trusted names in the construction industry.

One thing we noticed about Farr Engineers is that they like to keep track of what other engineering firms are doing. This is to ensure that their designs remain competitive and reflect the latest industry trends.

While this form of workmanship is second to none, how they deal with potential customers and their after-sales service are a different story.

We believe that Farr Engineers should take the time to invest and improve in their customer response if they want to gain more new customers. In our experience, we had to wait for a few days before getting a response to our query.

Industry knowledge and customer service are two different things. And in this case, the former outweighs the latter, so we’d still argue that this firm is a great choice.

  • Almost six decades in the trade
  • Seasoned, experienced engineers
  • Reliable customer service

  • Focuses on commercial and industrial structures
  • Expensive services

Established in 1965, Bornhorst + War is one of the most in-demand engineering consultancy firms in Brisbane, housing some of the top calibre civil and structural engineers in Brisbane.

Bornhorst + War is known for providing an extensive range of engineering services, including feasibility and planning, documentation, and advising. Except for residential houses, they have probably done all sorts of buildings and structures.

That means you can ask for their help if you’re planning on building a warehouse, high-rise buildings, special purpose buildings, and even hotels and resorts.

When it comes to rates, we already expected that Bornhorst + War would be far more expensive than their competitors. It’s not really a big deal for us considering how prominent these guys are in the engineering scene.

That said, if budget is a huge concern for you, then you’re better off with other firms. Also, if you’re a residential owner, they rarely consult with homeowners, or never at all as per their website.

While their rates can be disappointing, it comes with the guarantee that you’ll be under the care of the best people in the trade.
