CST Consulting Engineers is another top-rated engineering firm on Google Reviews, so we had to find out why by booking an appointment. Then, our initial talks with these guys ultimately led us to hiring their firm!

These guys describe themselves as proactive, modern civil and structural engineers in Brisbane, specialising in residential spaces. So whatever service your house might need to improve its structural integrity, expect that CST can do it!

We especially like their versatility as an engineering firm. Not only do they do home renovations and repairs, they can design and detail new houses and house extensions as well. 

Some engineering firms mainly focus on building inspections, so we appreciate them for being well-rounded residential-focused companies. 

Another reason we had initial trust with CST is that they’ve worked with architects, building designers, and home builders. Some of their clients are prominent names such as Engineers Australia, EAC Constructions, TWMT Group, and many more. 

However, we noticed that CST sometimes works with sub-consultants. That means they temporarily take in some people whose skills might not have been vetted to help with their projects. 

Personally, that’s not really a deal-breaker for us, but if it is for you, then you might want to look for other options!

The firm puts an emphasis on coming up with innovative designs and having a practical approach to projects. Though prices are steep, we believe that you’ll be getting the bang your buck with their attitude and workmanship.

Apart from their practical solutions, another thing we like about Morgan Consulting Engineers is how their staff are quick to respond to our requests. You can’t say the same about other structural engineers in Brisbane. 

Perhaps what makes them stand out is that they’re the only firm that operates on weekends. This is good news for people who are too busy on weekdays!

Although Morgan Consulting Engineers seems capable of doing it all, we did find the turnaround time a bit disappointing. It took quite longer than expected for our project to finish.

While this form of workmanship is second to none, how they deal with potential customers and their after-sales service are a different story. 

We believe that Farr Engineers should take the time to invest and improve in their customer response if they want to gain more new customers. In our experience, we had to wait for a few days before getting a response to our query. 

Industry knowledge and customer service are two different things. And in this case, the former outweighs the latter, so we’d still argue that this firm is a great choice. 

Established in 1965, Bornhorst + War is one of the most in-demand engineering consultancy firms in Brisbane, housing some of the top calibre civil and structural engineers in Brisbane. 

Bornhorst + War is known for providing an extensive range of engineering services, including feasibility and planning, documentation, and advising. Except for residential houses, they have probably done all sorts of buildings and structures. 

That means you can ask for their help if you’re planning on building a warehouse, high-rise buildings, special purpose buildings, and even hotels and resorts. 

When it comes to rates, we already expected that Bornhorst + War would be far more expensive than their competitors. It’s not really a big deal for us considering how prominent these guys are in the engineering scene. 

That said, if budget is a huge concern for you, then you’re better off with other firms. Also, if you’re a residential owner, they rarely consult with homeowners, or never at all as per their website. 

While their rates can be disappointing, it comes with the guarantee that you’ll be under the care of the best people in the trade.
