Pros

  • Provides play-based learning
  • Great outdoor space and playground
  • Offers Bush Kindy program

Cons

  • Fees are more expensive than others
  • Charges additional fees for activities and maintenance fees

Chapel Hill Community Kindergarten provides play-based learning which is an excellent approach for kids transitioning to primary school. It’s also one of the reasons why they made it on our list of the best kindergarten schools in Brisbane!

Their play-based program allows each child to build a strong foundation for their learning abilities.

We think it’s also great that children are given the freedom to move and play in safe indoor and outdoor spaces with resources that are thoughtfully laid out to encourage engagement.

They also limit their students to only 22 which is just the perfect size for their space and facilities as it’s not too few and too crowded.

We also love that they highlight children’s expression through the arts such as stories, music, drama, and visual arts. This is a great way to inspire creativity among the kids which they showcase through an annual art show.

Another exciting offering they have is their Bush Kindy program where kids get to explore a local bushland with their teachers.

Their kindergarten fee is $1,100 per term, which seems more expensive than other schools. They also charge additional fees for activities plus maintenance fees as well, which would be better if included in the main tuition package.

Pros

  • Running for almost 80 years
  • Affordable rates per term
  • Offers After Kindy Hours Care until 5:30pm daily

Cons

  • Penalty applies for late pick up of child
  • Street parking only

Staverton Kindergarten has been around since 1944 and has established a strong reputation for its supportive learning environment which is built on respect for children, parents, teachers, and everyone in the community.

As one of the longest running kindergarten schools in Brisbane, we think they’ve endured because of their inclusive and welcoming approach for all families.

It’s also good to know that they closely collaborate with families, communities, and schools in order to support children in their transition to primary education.

We love that they’re situated in a lush environment with well-maintained facilities. It’s great that kids can enjoy the natural surroundings with ample shade from trees.

We feel that this kind of environment is one of the reasons why they were able to sustain a warm and nurturing space for many years.

Their rate for one term is at $725 which is fairly affordable. Additionally, they have After Kindy Hours Care which offers parents more schedule flexibility for them and their child.

The after hours program starts from 2:35 pm – 5:30 pm everyday with a fee of $33 per session. This is a great option for working parents as their child can enjoy supervised free play even after kindy hours.

Just take note that they charge penalty fees for late pick up, so make sure that you’d be able to arrive on time to fetch your child.

Pros

  • Montessori approach that focuses on 5 key learning areas
  • Center tour can be scheduled for interested applicants
  • Fee includes food in the morning, lunch, and afternoon tea

Cons

  • Currently only accepting waitlist applications
  • The Montessori approach might not be for everyone

If you’re interested in a Montessori approach of learning for your child, Montessori Early Education Taringa is an excellent choice.

What’s great about Montessori pedagogy is that it essentially encourages independence and helps boost a child’s confidence in their abilities early on.

In Montessori Early Education, the curriculum focuses on five principal areas, namely practical life, language arts, mathematics, culture and science, and sensorial development.

The kids are given freedom to move within an environment tailored to their needs. This gives them the chance to choose activities from the 5 key learning areas to let them absorb new knowledge and abilities at their own pace.

If you wish to see if a Montessori school is the best for your child, the good news is that they offer a tour at their center so you and your child will be able to explore your child’s potential school.

You may simply contact them and schedule a visit at your most convenient time. They’re open from 7:30am to 6pm so there’s plenty of time to schedule a tour.

Their rate is at $122 per day for Kindy classes for children 3 to 5 years old. It’s a pretty reasonable rate, however they only accept waitlist applications at the moment, so it might take some time before your child can be a confirmed enrollee.

Pros

  • Applies a child-driven approach
  • Offers Healthy Children program with various activities and events
  • Australian-approved child care center which comes with discounted rates for specific criteria

Cons

  • No outdoor area
  • Location is on a busy street

What we love about Papilio Early Learning is that it fosters a child-driven approach which helps to inspire self-discovery in children.

Their program is one of the best choices for early childhood education as they offer a baby nursery program, a toddler program, and a kindergarten program.

The educators aim to cultivate a lifelong love for learning in children. The first 5 years of a child are the most critical times in their development, so a play-based learning approach is best.

With this approach, kids can develop social connectivity, foundational learning, emotional confidence, as well as their physical health and overall well-being.

Another exciting program that they offer is their Healthy Children program which provides a range of activities, incursions, excursions, and events with the involvement of families and the community.

It’s worth noting that, since the center is an Australian-approved childcare facility, a percentage discount can be applied to your fees based on certain criteria such as family income and the rate cap based on the type of childcare approved for your child.

The only downside is, we noticed that the center has no fully outdoor area where kids can play under the sun. But they do have nice playground facilities, but the set up is only indoors.

Pros

  • Great play and learn facilities
  • Offers financial support options
  • Multiple locations in Brisbane and across the country

Cons

  • Location is surrounded by buildings
  • Quality might not be consistent for all branches

Guardian Childcare & Education on Charlotte Street is one of the best childcare and early education options out there within the Brisbane CBD.

If you live or work within the area, it would be very convenient as you can easily drop off and pick up your child.

They also apply a play-based approach which aims to spark a child’s natural curiosity. We love that their approach would let a child learn that there are a lot of ways to answer their questions through play.

With that, kids can develop confidence, explore, experiment, build their knowledge, learn practical life skills, and solve problems independently.

Guardian has numerous locations across the country, but we chose this location in Brisbane as a lot of parents are satisfied with the program and facilities.

But since this center is located at the center of the business district, their space is surrounded by towering buildings. So if you want a more natural environment for your kid, then it’s better to check other locations.

Another Guardian center in Brisbane that’s worth visiting is the one at Everton Hills which has great facilities indoors and outdoors.

Having a lot of locations is great as it gives parents and children a lot of options, but this also means that the quality wouldn’t be consistent for all branches.
