The Top 5 Pubs in Brisbane That Pour Perfection into Our Beer Bellies
One of the best things after an exhausting week at work is a cold pint of beer. That’s just a universal truth, isn’t it?
If you’re looking for the best pubs in Brisbane where you can indulge in this yourself, look no further. My friends and I have hit just about every pub in the city so we know what we’re about. We’ve collected our top picks here.

The Regatta Hotel has one of the best pubs in the city, believe it or not. The view outside is stunning, right next to the Brisbane River with city lights in the distance. A good place for a good time and more than good drinks.
Try the Main Bar for drinks and some snacks and sandwiches. I recommend the Beer Battered Fish & Chips, Chicken Schnitzel, and the Steak Sandwich.
They have a fairly large menu with over 33 draught beers. Most are great – I actually rotate them when I go.
Service is generally awesome, but on the busiest nights, the waiters can sometimes be curt. Fortunately, they also give you a QR code for orders if you’d rather not call a server.
You must go to this pub
You must go to this pub. It has been beautifully restored. The staff are very friendly even though they were very busy. The food portions were generous and the beer was cold.

Would 100% recommend
Great place to watch live sport and have a catch up. Good food, plenty of drink choices, and heaps of seating. You can also order your drinks and food using the QR code on the table which is handy when you’re deep in chat. You can also order at the bar (and probably pay cash) if you’re anti-QR code establishment or want to watch that frothy schooner fill up before your eyes.

The Breakie is nice if you want to feel like you’re in a different time in history with vintage furniture and classic walls. You’ll actually feel like dressing up when you go, just for the atmosphere.
At their Public Bar, staff aren’t shy about giving you their recommendations from the menu. Try the Beer off the Wood. They’re known for it and it’s amazing.
For food, I’d say go for the filet mignon, chicken parmesan, and zucchini chips. Portions are pretty big, though things are just a touch on the pricey end.
The place is also dog-friendly, which I like. I wish their service was just a bit faster at cleanup in particular. Maybe it’s because I tend to go on Friday (a very busy day), though.
You definitely need to visit
We had heard so much about the ‘Breakie’ and it lived up to all we heard. The place is huge and has a number of different areas. We met friends in the Private Bar for drinks which has the Beer of the Wood XXXX which is the only place in Brisbane to get it so it would be rude not to try. The pub is also known for its steaks so we went outside to the beer garden and tried one along with their ribs. Both were large and full of flavour. The pub offers something for everyone and has a great vibe to it. It does get busy so I would book on weekends. You definitely need to visit the Breakfast Creek Hotel if you visit Brisbane.

Truly a gem of a bar
Breakfast Creek is truly a gem of a bar! The atmosphere is vibrant and welcoming, making it a perfect spot to start your day or unwind in the evening. The decor is charming, blending classic and modern elements that create a cozy yet lively ambiance. One of the highlights of my visit was the lovely bar woman, Bridgette. She was not only friendly and attentive but also incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. Bridgette made excellent recommendations, ensuring that I had a delightful experience. Her warm personality added a special touch to the visit, making me feel right at home. Overall, Breakfast Creek is a fantastic place to enjoy great drinks and food, and Bridgette’s exceptional service is definitely a reason to return. I highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the area!

So, off the bat, one issue with this place is the early closing time of 10 PM. That’s always been my big problem with it.
But it is a great place despite that. Rustic furnishings, brick walls, relaxing style. Service is always fast and friendly the moment you sit down too.
The food is decent. I always get the anchovies on toasted brioche, some calamari, and their well-acclaimed Scotch egg. Salty food with cold beer is just a match made in heaven – though they do have a lot of dietary options, if you’re picky.
The place is also dog-friendly and takes event bookings like birthdays.
Definitely worth revisiting
Great pub in Spring Hill that provides a great range of beers on tap and lots of friendly team behind the bar to make the place the ideal local pub for those living in the spring Hill area. Great food and atmosphere, pool table goes a long way

Reminded me of a good old pub in the UK
Wow, I’d heard about the Alliance Hotel a few months ago and wanted to go for ages. Oh wow, I was not disappointed. All the food was so delicious. The service was also very good. This pub really reminded me of a good old pub in the UK, great food, good banter, and fast service. Probably the best pub food I’ve had in a long time.

This is a really big place with a lot of booths. They use a QR-code ordering system and have fairly fast service to go with it.
Just note that it typically has a live band. I like this sort of thing with my beers, but if you don’t, steer clear.
For food, I recommend the smoked pork ribs – succulent and flavorful. Plus, it comes with some creamy slaw, chips, and crunchy onion for the sides. The buffalo wings and the nachos with pork are out of this world too.
My main complaint about this place is that the staff aren’t always on point. Some servers are curt and security is occasionally a little too gung-ho about eyeing you askance.
The food was outstanding
This place was noisy as hell on a Friday night (of course). We just wanted somewhere to eat after a day walking and shopping and expected average pub food. The food was outstanding, if a little pricier than we usually pay at a pub. Good pizza and the middle eastern salad was delicious.

We’d gladly come back again
Nice pub with huge rooms and countless seating options. The beer and food were excellent. Recommendation: the very tasty BBQ ribs, where the meat practically falls off the bone. Take them with steamed vegetables and a garden salad with its very tasty dressing. The beer selection is top-notch, just as you’d expect from an Irish pub. We’d gladly come back again.

Friendly staff with a fun atmosphere, basically. They have great and cold beers with good food too. I recommend the tender hotdogs with loaded fries, chicken schnitzel burger, and duck spring rolls.
What really elevates the night here is that they do stuff like Trivia Night. This pub has a great, active community for that sort of thing.
It’s also a pretty nice venue. To give you an idea of how nice it is, most of us have taken portrait photos for our feeds here.
Pricing is also pretty good. So what’s the catch? I’ve had some questionable experiences with staff here. Only a few, but you tend to remember those.
A must visit destination
The food is excellent here, you gotta try a BBC! Great atmosphere, delightful staff, awesome and varied events and diversity to cater for everyone! As well as being steeped in history, being the oldest gay bar in Brisbane. The Wickham is a must visit destination!

Will definitely be coming back
My partner and I celebrated our engagement party in the beer garden and were so well taken care of. Our people were welcomed and everyone loved the shows that were out on that night. We ate, drank and danced the night away and will definitely be coming back. Thanks team for making our night so perfect!
